Leo Laporte Makes Fun of Sexual Assault/Harassment Victims

Update 2: Added more links to the Leo Laporte sexual harassment bulleted list. Let us know in the comments if you find more in our archives.

Update 1: Leo Laporte sexually harassed Stacey Higginbotham in person, just like he planned.

Look out Stacey Higginbotham!

Leo can’t help himself, even with works of art.

Leo Laporte really wants to be relevant. He’ll do anything. He’s even making on-camera references to the #metoo campaign highlighting sexual abuse and harassment of women.

While Robert Scoble fights off allegations of sexual misconduct, Leo Laporte jokes about it.

TWiT Escapee, Sarah Lane

Sarah Lane posted a piece on Medium about the sexual harassment she’s had to endure in the workplace. She didn’t mention the Dark Triangle incident or any others at TWiT by name, but the references are clear.

Luria Petrucci (Cali Lewis) is not surprised, given her history with Leo Laporte.

Shannon Morse — aka Snubs.ziphad to endure this as well. Shannon, please see the note at the end of the post.

Leo Laporte is a disgusting creep enabled by his bride, Lisa Laporte.

So, let’s get this straight: Scoble is an asshole for what he did, but these things are fine for Leo Laporte:

Take in the view, ladies

What is wrong with tech press? Why don’t they cover Leo Laporte like they do Robert Scoble? Is it just that he’s an absolute nobody who isn’t even recognized at tech events in interviews?

This video was graciously provided by an anonymous contributor in the chat room.

We appreciate all your tips for stories.

Shannon, this request is to you, personally. People have been asking you to do it already.

Please, speak out. You are the only one even partially vocal about his true nature. You alone hold the power, and you have nothing to lose by speaking your truth. You know that once you speak out, the others will follow. That is the spirit of #MeToo. We can’t do it; only you can do it.

    1. Stacey sounds like she’s is barely hanging in there sometimes on TwiG, continuously trying to keep the blabbering old guys on topic and keeping it non offensive.

        1. There is an ancient saying: Pretty girls can do ANYTHING. Ugly girls have to do EVERYTHING.

Lisa Laporte knows just who and what her meal ticket is, and has traded her ethics for material gain, and is willing to do ANYTHING to continue ‘the lifestyle’.

    1. Like Sublime says “if it wasn’t for date rape I’d never get laid.” Scoble is disgusting inside and out, he can probably only get close to women by assaulting them.

His own wife is ugly as shit, so…

      1. Kenneth Woble: “As in, more than 50% of the male bosses I’ve had over my entire career have come onto me. ” ~ Sarah Lane
…This means that there’s 100% chance Leo came “on to her” and very likely came “on her” andpossibly inside her.

Sarah is delusional. She’s not nearly as hot as she thinks she is: chipmunk face, bad teeth, bleached blond, etc.

      2. So my thoughts on Ms Lane’s post …

She starts off painting men as innate perverts, let’s address that first. Society is flooded with sexual imagery and women use their appearance as a standard part of manipulating men, it’s part of female culture. Boys grow up in this environment, drowning in deliberate sexual cues from the media, film, TV, and real life where women play the game as well – there was a UK female comedian who used the recurring phrase “Does my bum look big in this?”, yes women expect people to check out their backsides and dress accordingly to highlight or diminish their arse. They are not victims they are grown adults and manipulators who use sexuality as a weapon.

Given this environment inevitably men will have their thoughts warped to a greater or lesser degree – and yes some will turn into raving lunatics like Weinstein. But the vast majority won’t. So are men perverts as she suggests? I’d say most of the issues she highlights are the product of you boys growing up in a highly sexualised environment, good boys, bad environment.

Then she goes on to paint herself as a victim – no, having an affair with a married man does not make you the victim or innocent. Sorry. Also most of her tech career has been based on being good looking/attractive. I’d suggest she’d never have been on camera if she was 200 pounds, spotty, with buck teeth. This is a common refrain from good looking female hosts – they get their jobs and make their money by being good looking then complain that people lust after them because of their looks. Give me a break – ordinary looking women(or men) who want to be on air will never be given the chance.

Then we come to the bit that really, really, annoys me. In decades past the only time you heard about mental health issues was in the context of very seriously ill people, people who could not hold down jobs or had to be hospitalised or perhaps lived their whole life in an institution – I have dealt with people like that. But now in 2017 everybody wants to claim they have a mental illness – my boyfriend left me and I want to end it all, I have a mental illness – no, you don’t in the slightest you are a self indulgent whiner.

I actually like the slightly ditsy cat woman that is Sarah Lane, but she thinks she is fit to judge men when she isn’t, and she thinks she’s had a hard life – not remotely.

          » Quote comment

        1. Newbie2020 – Excellent analysis. I had a lot of the same thoughts after reading her post…the mental illness thing really bugged me, too.

I’ve noticed with many of the “me-too” ladies who have gone public, there seems to be a pattern…they’re generally in their mid-30’s or pushing 40, fair to middling career success (maybe past their prime now), and typically unmarried (perhaps divorced). We have a local news reporter here in Los Angeles who went public after the Weinstein scandal broke…she totally fits that profile, and reminds me a lot of Ms. Lane. The reporter would have never had a job in the business the past several years if it weren’t for her looks…plus she played up a slightly promiscuous, slutty image on social media for years, but is now toning that down in light of her accusations.

To me, some of these women (not all) are using this as an excuse at this point in their lives in light of their careers, relationships, etc. not panning out like they wanted. Now they have their excuse…with some adding on “mental illness” to their newfouund victimhood.

IMHO, Ms. Lane has always thought too much of herself…and now that no one else does, she’s come up with an explanation for all her woes.

          1. The mention of brief suicidal thoughts just once is proof that she’s grasping at anything to be relevant in the tragedy of the day for wimen. We’re supposed to pity her and want to defend her from the mean men! When she’s dreading going to sleep because she doesn’t want to wake up to the torturous shit then maybe I’ll care.

Like saying lots of inappropriate stuff and making them feel uncomfortable?

Maybe to Sarah Lane? Amber MacArthur? Colleen Kelly? Shannon Morse? Veronica Belmont? Eileen Rivera? Megan Marrone? Becky Worley? Mary Jo Foley? Gina Trapani? Denise Howell? Kiki Sanford? Roz Savage? Cammy Blackstone?

I guess we already know he sends dick pics to his female CEO. There must be something.

Is there a lot of evidence of Leo sexually harassing female hosts in the Twit video archives?

Absolutely. I’ve venture to say a good 40-50% (at least!) of the posts on TD act as an archive of Leo’s harassing behavior.

Honestly, it took a long time for me to turn against Leo. Even when it became apparent that he was just phoning it in, TWiT was nice to just have on in the background while I was doing other things. Every once in while, they’d say something the piqued my interest. Seeing the constant harassment being documented here really changed my perspective. He’s a predator. Plain and simple.

What are the odds that Leo is the boss she was thinking about suing? Sexual harassment is difficult to prove in court, so most women don’t speak up because nothing will come from it. But if lawyers told her she could “get rich off” of her boss, that suggests there’s a bunch of evidence – such as a 24/7 live stream, for example? And she also said she was worried that this boss would be able to ruin her career. Kind of like how Leo was actually at the top of tech broadcasting field until CEO took him down a few pegs?

These types of men make me physically ill.

      1. I’m a bit the same, Leo genuinely looked like he was trying to bring up young talent giving them a chance show their chops. Now everyone seems mid to late 30’s and “Hosts” are fossils!
Leo made a major mistake in deciding to not to have a YouTube presence, 2010 onwards young talent weren’t interested in some fat old dude who use to be on some shitty tech tv show in the late 90’s early 00’s.
Try Before You Buy was the show that highlighted how deaf to the world Leo is. Always so childish and selfish having to review all the new Phones. Like people gave a shit what this fat old fuck who never leaves the house thinks about the new Galaxy or iPhone when he HAD active young people on staff who’d actually use the device. Still treats Jason Howell like this. Always use to hear “I’m going to give this to Jason Howell after I’ve reviewed it”
Or my other favourite was when a guess comes on TWiT and Leo starts making rain phones! Trying to impress them, meanwhile Staff getting pay peanuts.
        Thanks ya scummy Kent..!

The best TWiT ep was when JCD kept referring to her as a bloke, the shit hit the fan that Sunday. Very amusing…

I saw that too. Tank Grl….Nope and “she” was doing nothing to support her assertion. Be who you’re going to be but if you’re going to dress up like a clown don’t be surprised when you can’t get work which seemed to be a constant problem with this person. That and perhaps a bit too much of the Trans SJW for most people to tolerate. It was hard to take anything said seriously when “she” was on because of it. Becky Worley is openly gay but has no trouble working at ABC for years. So too with Rachel Maddow. Neither of which dress up like a 80’s punk rock clown and expect to be taken seriously. Fine for a punk band bad for TV host.

  4. For the information of all, let it be known that after iOS Today of 10/24, the following things were said by Leo and (frankly I don’t know who it is) the other studio guys moving stuff around.

    Guy: Guess who’s coming tomorrow.
    Leo: Who?
    Guy: Stacey.
    Leo: Higginbotham?
    Guy: In studio. Here.
Leo: She’s not afraid I’ll touch her at all? Inappropriately?
Guy: Is she bringing in boxing gloves?
    (inaudible) (laughter)
Leo: That’s great! I always feel like Stacey’s just waiting for me to do something inappropriate.
Guy: And she’s regularly paid to blow it off.
Leo: She fully expects me to do something horrific.
    Guy: And you regularly do.
    Leo: I do not!
    Guy: Well, not horrific.
Leo: Come on. I called her “honey” once. “Baby” or something.
    Guy: Pretty horrific last week.
Leo: What did I do last week?
Guy: Hashtag #metoo? Stacey Higginbotham! Hashtag #metoo.
    Leo: What do you mean?
    Guy: You said that.
Other guy: What is that? Why is that horrific? I don’t get it.
Leo: No, I asked what the hashtag #metoo was all about.
Guy: At the end of the show, when we were out and Leo introducing everyone at the end.
    Leo: I said hashtag #metoo?
    Guy: Stacey Higginbotham, hashtag #metoo.
    Leo: I did?
    Guy: You did.
    Leo: That’s pretty bad.
    (laughter)
Leo: You’re right. That’s not good. Sometimes I think I have Tourette’s Syndrome. I’ll say anything for a laugh. Did she groan?
    Guy: She, uh, facepalming.
Leo: Oh, facepalming’s good. Facepalm’s fine.

No, she left tech journalism at the same time as she left the reality that you and I live in.
She is nuttier than squirrel turds.

Agreed. And Jolie O’Dell is not her real name. She’s like a Kardashian. Looks ok, but no brains.

    2. “After fifteen years in newswriting and editing, I’m transitioning into the world of theatre design. I run a small business, Magick Wigs, which allows me to design and sell large, theatrical wigs to clients around the country. I also work part-time in the CCSF theatre costume shop, and I’m getting into freelance work in local theatres.”

        1. She’s right to get out of tech journalism – it’s full of identity politics airheads, few with any computing/electronics degrees, pontificating on the latest smartphone – or ranting against white men. Third rate “journalists” whose life revolves around their Twitter account.

I bet making theatrical costumes and wigs is a hundred times more interesting than churning out pages of tech garbage.

  13. It is sad that many of continue to listen or watch his podcasts even though he continues to sexual harass women on his show (I am surprised women still come on his show personally). I feel his behavior should be called out, he should lose his radio contract and his sponsors should stop backing him. With so many talented tech people with quality podcast, I should make an effort to provide one replacement for each of his show each week on my show and through twitter. I also feel each of his sponsors should have a list similar to the one here to let them know the kind of individual they are sponsoring. I for one will write each of the co-host of the shows I listen to and let them know why I don’t plan to support their podcast anymore. We should not condone or accept his behavior by tuning into his shows.

  14. Wow, all your poor little baby ears can’t take a little dirty humor? Jesus the world has turned in to the biggest bunch of whiny little bitches. Maybe it’s the skinny jeans, maybe it’s facebook, maybe you all need to fucking get with it and stop searching for every tiny like comment anyone makes and turn it into something ridiculous.

You people are all just jealous of other people that are successful, newflash you fuckers! None of you will ever be sucessful because you are wasting time reading rumors and creating drama.

Good Luck Losers, keep steaming over nothing in your bedrooms while everyone else lives the life.
