Leo Laporte mocks radio show caller

TWiT fan VIP area

It’s no secret that Leo Laporte treats his fans like absolute shit and is never grateful for their support.  Everyone remembers the bricks debacle, the time he said people in the chatroom had no lives, and the time he embarrassed them by saying they only watched the livestream because they had nothing better to do. Classy.

Typical radio show caller (probably from California)

It was only a matter of time before he set his sights on one of his callers from The Tech Guy radio show. After receiving two weird calls in a row (what are the chances?!) he decided to visually mock the third caller whose only crime was that he rambled on a bit. Leo Laporte could have been respectful and listened to the question in full. Alternatively he could have politely interrupted the caller to get him back on track.

Actor demonstrating what proper disdain looks like

But what Leo Laporte ended up doing was one of the most disrespectful things you can do to someone who can’t see you. Many of you probably remember the time he also did this to Steve Gibson on Security Now. This level of contempt is fucking shameful. Leo Laporte has completely run out his usefulness on this planet and needs to retire.

If you have any ideas for an article we encourage you to leave an anonymous comment below or submit a tip. Thanks go out to TWiT for letting us borrow Hilton Goring so he could shoot the VFX portion of the video above.

    1. I’m extremely saddened that you lack the mental acuity to understand what Leo did was unprofessional. Maybe you missed the entire point of the article, which you obviously did not read because you are illiterate.

  1. The Twitter lawyers acted the same way as one of them read through the accusation filing made by Leo & his lawyer. It rambled on in the same way with no substance.

  2. Oh for fuck sake Leo, cuuut that meatgrinder talkin’ motherfucker off… obvious skilled bullshitter. No doubt a regular on 4 hour long rehash UFO/Conspiracy theory podcasts, need junk filler, call up that guy.

  3. Thanks for the wonderful update. This is my only link to whatever twit has sunk to. Having built a wall between it and I.

And I have no idea what sponsors to boycott. I assume Depends and Viagra alternatives and 3rd rate startups hawking generic crap.

    1. Leo’s listeners are so stupid to not recognize the contempt he has for them – it’s astounding. The first sign of contempt in any relationship is it’s death knell.

  4. Observe this aged primate trapped behind the glass cage, waiting for supplications and praise from his fans and devotees, only to be harassed relentlessly by a male neckbeard. The neckbeard drones on, while the aged primate displays increasing frustration. Unable to escape the call of the neckbeard, the aged primate succumbs, quietly ruminating on his status as a former authority on technology…

The aged primate slowly dies on the inside.

  5. Judging by the big clock behind Leo, the actual caller’s explanation lasts less than 2 minutes, although your edits make it appear much longer which is a fun effect, but it’s not exactly an age… and Leo is clearly playing to whoever is in the room, pretending it’s going on and on. He’s not done anything bad. Odd video. There are so many other things on the network you could pick up on.

Thank you for your comment… we would be interested in hearing any story ideas you have.

The video was edited for time and to minimize aggravation to the users on this site who can only handle Leo in small portions. The full unedited call is available in TTG episode 1480 so you can see the extended version of his indignant treatment of this caller. If you think it’s fine to “play to whoever is in the room” at your workplace then I am assuming you’ve never held a real job for that long.

      1. Story ideas are numerous, a search through my comments on posts will pop up a few over the time.

My employment history has no relevance here, but I appreciate your concern. Playing to the room is not an offence.

      1. It’s not a big deal if one of your posts doesn’t take down Laporte. Some are hits, others are a little pedantic.

  6. 50/50 on this one.

The callers on TTG should get to their point ASAP, they only have what, 15 minutes or so? Then Leo has to give his answer, well, type what the caller asked into Google. If the caller is lucky he’ll answer when they’re on an ad break.

I don’t agree with him acting bored, pulling the faces, then pulling out the book. Should of did what the article said and politely interrupted the caller, and let them know they have a limited amount of time to ask a question.

I think this dood forgets the ‘radio show’ is on video.

    1. Fuck you, how do you like that?: The callers on TTG should get to their point ASAP

You can’t blame the caller here, unless they were given specific instructions by the call screener, and even then you still can’t blame them because these are just ignorant people with no radio experience, so they can’t be expected to manage the segment time. They are not the “professionals” running the show. Leo Laporte’s complete failure as a moderator (also seen on his other shows) is the only reason why this call turned into the shitshow you see on the video.

  7. So Leo’s back from vacation and on Sunday’s TWIT a minute or so after the one hour mark he stated, “…in Japan, ahh which is a very, very orderly country, and there are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which is it’s a completely uniform company, ahh country, there are no black people, no Hispanics (chuckles briefly at his own backwards, and factually incorrect, insight), it’s just…”
So thank you once again Uncle Leo, you racist, bigoted, mother-fucker for blurting out yet more of your old, white guy wisdom.
So really, just what does this guy have to say or do before his sponsors drop him? Is advertising on TWIT actually that profitable that they don’t mind associating their companies with Mr. Master-of-the-exposed-dick-pic?

    2. When I commented… “Funny, how leo and others are now a authority on Japan.”… he totally stopped talking about Japan. He even interrupted yoko to remind her there were Japanese listeners when she/it tried to make some more comments later. And it is funny when he gets caught spreading his own mis-information. (This includes his fanboys in the chat.)

  8. I felt badly for the caller. Leo was shockingly disrespectful to this gentleman who was just telling his story. He noted to Leo that he was a big fan of the TWiT network, and listens to all of Leo’s podcasts. He actually had a question, and did not deserve to be ridiculed and treated so unkindly.
