Leo Laporte Insults His Live Viewers and Chat Room Again

Take in the view, ladies

Leo Laporte has repeatedly made it clear he hates the chat room, saying they were “never of value.”

Jonathan Abrams, founder of famously-failed Friendster and soon-to-fail Nuzzel — whatever that is — was Leo’s guest on TWiG. He was absoultely incredulous that sheep would sit there watching the garbage that TWiT spews to the live stream on a daily basis. We are surprised too, Jonathan.

Something perhaps even more humorous happened as well. Jonathan Abrams got tired of the way Leo was treating him. Leo kept saying that the foundation of his business was fundamentally flawed, no one would use it, and therefore Leo didn’t need to care.

Suddenly, Jonathan had to “change his battery.” When he returned, Jeff Jarvis suddenly remembered — hangouts message from Jonathan? — that Johnathan Abrams had a “hard out” and had to leave. Hmm.

You know, what really makes that Leo “fuck you” clip is Alex Lindsey’s snivelling laugh laughter. What a bunch of cunts.

I completely agree. It’s that hyena-like laugh that cracks me up every time I heard that clip.

Well said. The sycophantic laughter in that clip is more infuriating that soups vulgarity on a family friendly network

  1. btw TNJJ, this article seems incomplete without video of the “change his battery” moment and Jeff “Cookie” Jarvis’ reporting the “hard out” (whatever the fuck that is).

    1. Hard out means they have something important coming up after so they need to leave by a certain time.

Since it’s Jeff Jarvis, I’m guessing he had a hard out so he could take care of his hard on for Google, i.e. masturbating to sexy pics of Larry and Sergei on his Chromebook.

    2. This just proves Jeff is an idiot because the term used in North Jersey is that of a ‘hard stop’ at a specific time to indicate that the person attending your meeting is way more important than anything that you may be discussing over the next so many minutes.

Today, he’s just a joke, a very small piece of tech guy he used to be. Im done with all his shows…Oh well…

  3. He brought it on himself by keeping an open mic live on set for the past 10 years so we could witness his behavior. It’s like Richard Nixon and the bugged oval office. He thought so highly of himself that he figured everyone would eventually bathe in his glory in every way possible. The irony is that both Nixon and Leo turned out to be huge douchebags. And proved it because of these open mics.

    What idiots.

What an insult to Richard Nixon. True, he was a douchebag. True, recording proved it. But no one is dead because Nixon’s recordings. No one is dead because of Watergate. A man is dead because Leo Laporte’s comments, actions, and microphone. Leo is much, much worse than Richard Nixon.

        1. Erik was brilliant because he let the person calling in actually talk, unlike Leo on his radio show.

Can you imagine if Erik was still around today? The possibilities, now that we have YouTube live streaming, and Patreon.

R.I.P. Erik, surely missed, but never forgotten.

          1. In their very own inimitable way, Leo Laporte and Lisa Kentzell murdered Erik Lanigan. But very much like benevolent leaders such as Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot, they have absolutely no conception of the harm and sadness they leave in their wake. Going through life feeling as Gods but acting like demons!

    2. It’s common for losers with malignant narcissistic personality disorder to think others will always believe the lies, no matter how incredible, so they feel they don’t need to hide anything.

People with MNPD, like Leo, should be euthanized for the good of society. They’re predators.

      2. well his offspring are suspect as is his new wife’s boy who seems like a psycho if you find his pics. It looks as if he will eventually kill Leo. This may indeed be the plan of the wife. Kill Leo, blame it on the boy and run off with the money. It’s definitely a possibility. And it is not far-fetched. Just look at Lisa’s Instagram feed and see what pre-occupies her.

Strangely enough, her instagram feed looks much like any other, family, pets, food, holiday, friends and other odds and sods.
But very little Leo Laporte, maybe he was otherwise disposed?

I quickly scrolled through about 100 pics and it’s pretty much her son and cats. I don’t think I saw one pic that had Leo in it.

Those are some creepy pictures. The one with the kid in the casket is really freaky. Food, wine, and parting seem to be a driving force.

      3. Watching the videos about Eric, I’d say he’s more a sociopath. His weird laughing while discussing the possible death of a former co-worker is fucking creepy. He’s definitely full of himself, but I think what’s lurking behind that mask is far more scary.

  4. What I really don’t understand is how those on in twit chat don’t react to LL’s insult, repeated insults.
Do they have absolutely no self respect? Maybe they really do have ‘nothing better to do’.

  5. Well, at least Leo did not call the live viewers and people in the chat room ‘trolls’ which means he might be getting a bit less……. Nah, LaPorke will aways be a two bit sexist douchebag.

  6. Ugh. I don’t watch any Twit shows anymore and this episode is a great example of why not. Leo spent around 12 minutes of the show allowing the guest to promote his business, “Nuzzel”. But it wasn’t just promotion – it was Leo abusing his position to get essentially live customer support. As he said at the end of the discussion, it’s “a product I use every day but clearly know absolutely nothing about”. Typical Leo – and what a waste of viewers’ time. Basically, free advertising.

  7. I take it back. It wasn’t 12 minutes of pure product promotion. I’ve just skipped forward another 15 minutes and they are STILL talking about the product made by the guest.

  8. Nuzzel is actually pretty great. I mean, if you want a service that aggregates the best stuff from people you follow on Twitter, Nuzzel does it really well.

I sometimes wonder if you folks at TD are watching the shows you criticise at all. I didn’t see any of the ‘drama’ you did in that episode. This really is a story about nothing.

    1. To the casual viewer, the clip above might indeed seem like nothing. But we do watch Leo, and we know he has gone off on the chatroom before. So this isn’t just some passing comment he made but more of his disdain for his audience coming through.

    2. By the same token Dish, it’s clear you didn’t bother to read the comment you were replying to. My complaint was that the guest was basically allowed to use a big chunk of the show as a promotional broadcast for his product, and that Leo really did make an ass of himself because he was insulting the guy repeatedly while showing he knows nothing about the product. You say you watched the episode – well how did you miss the passive-aggressive comments Leo made about the guy?

The problem with comments like yours – “story about nothing” – is that the rest of us are now experienced enough to know that when someone says that, what they’re trying to do more than anything else is divert attention away from what we are arguing. You don’t even believe what you’re saying, which is why you responded with nonsense (who said there was “drama” there?) – you’re simply trying to stop people criticising Leo.

It won’t work, cos the rest of us have seen how often he slams the people who populate his chat room, and how much of an idiot Leo can be.

Remember, that’s the episode of Twig where Leo went on about how the Cheech & Chong guy was praising him, just cos the guy mentioned “Leo”. Everyone else – except you, of course – knows that’s not who the guy was referring to.

Yeah! It was actually this same episode. From like three weeks ago. Breaking news, LOL! And hey, it’s one thing to tell your readers what Laporte is thinking, like you really have any clue, but fuck off telling me what *I* am thinking.

The point I was making — which *you* seemed to have missed — is that the discussion they were having with the guest was about more than just PR. They were talking about the industry in the context of his product. Sure, nobody is getting the Pulitzer for tech journalism here, but it was interesting if you are interested in that kind of thing.

I’m not psychic like you and the TD ‘reporters’, so no, I didn’t pick up on any hostility from Laporte. Asking challenging questions about the viability of a guest’s product sounds to me like… *gasp*… journalism!

    3. It looks like Dish is carrying over to TD more Nuzzel promotion while dissing TD. Nice Dish. You like Leo and Nuzzel are hyped pcs of psycho shit spinning in a downward spiral into oblivion. Nuzzel is nothing more than another app to track/feed social content to make it’s user even more mindless and fucked up.

  9. I’ve noticed Leo making self-deprecating comments more than usual lately. I’m not sure for what affect he is doing it for. Typically it’s for humor but in most of what he says it’s absolutely true. For example, on MBW this week Andy’s pick of the week was a mechanical keyboard. Leo mentioned that for the radio show his he has to have a silent keyboard so that the listeners can’t hear him Googling the answers. Most of us know that this is indeed what he does but to actually admit it is another. To me it’s just another round about way of describing how dumb his listeners are that they need to call Leo to do the googling for them.

    1. They just love that silky radio voice is all, it makes all the silver surfers moist, I presume they don’t know what he looks like now. Although it could be the case that many people are unable to use ‘the google’ and need help.
