Leo Laporte’s tumor may be spreading to his brain. He took to his live stream yesterday — before TWiG (This Week in Troll Talk) — to discuss his most ardent of fans, the live stream viewers and IRC chatters.
Did he praise them and thank them for their continued support even as he downsized into the Shoebox Studio? No. He insulted them as he’s done again and again.
He was very angry at some of his fans asking for the schedule to be more accurate. Instead of changing the schedule to reflect when he actually plans to record, his plan is now to insult those people and add wording to the site that says — pretty much — “go fuck yourself if you’re using this for any type of planning.”

It doesn’t deserve its own post, but “Geoff Noodles” commented/asked:
They had the biggest change to the network in the last 5 years on Sunday and your guys haven’t said anything about it? Too busy trying to repost your lame videos?

Thanks for the question, Geoff. Yes, thanks to fraudulent DMCA claims from multiple Gmail accounts on behalf of TWiT, they’ve figured out a good censorship strategy there. They took down the Duke Masterschlong account, NYCritic, and many others. They haven’t taken down Erik Lanigan’s yet, but after what they did to him, a little DMCA won’t even tickle Leo or Yoko’s conscience.
In short, yes, Geoff, we are a little busy working on new infrastructure. We would like to thank Leo and Yoko for pushing us to set up our own CDN and viewing infrastructure, which we are still working on. The video above and a few others are currently hosted from a temporary location.

Actually….having a live, behind the scenes stream was a brilliant move by Leo…..initially. Problem is, all the talent that were worth watching and interacting with have either left or were summarily fired for one lame reason or another.
I remember the days when Tom & Iyaz (Sarah was there too, but usually only showed up seconds before the start) hosted TNT and for the hour before and the hour after there was great conversations that took place via the chat. There wasn’t any bad feelings, even towards Leo. TNT itself was a great watch as well.
The firing of Erik started the downward spiral, but initially it didn’t seem bad because of the other talents still there. However, when Tom was fired (not renewed) there was no turning back. Iyaz soon followed and Leo had to rely on the likes of Sarah (no talent there) and Mike Elgan (talent isn’t even in his vocabulary).
Today, TWiT isn’t even a shell of its former self. Just Leo and his minion of Yes people with little or no talent. Can barely setup a new studio (seriously, you can’t do audio level checks between shows, you NEED to do it just before you go on-air???).

Actually I listen to TWIT less and less and enjoy reading your content. However I have to disagree, his explanation is pretty clear. Your watching behind the scenes, if you want to watch the episode, then download or stream when it becomes available just like a podcast. But that’s the thing, 5 years ago or so, watching behind the scenes was fun and engaging. There was a great interaction between the on-screen talent and the live audience. On top of that, because of the business I run I was able to have TWiT playing in the shop all day long without issue.
But a few years ago that all changed. Leo started caring less and less about anything. He got more misogynistic and then he had the dick pic and other nude photos show up live, on stream. When he got called out on it he had a full on meltdown against live and chat.
After being told that all live viewers, not just the trolls, but ALL live viewers were worthless to him and his network and that we could all basically go “fuck off” (I honestly don’t remember the exact wording but he did drop the F-Bomb more than a few times) that was basically it for me.
So this isn’t “making a big deal out of nothing”, this is telling people who maybe don’t know the background on the story why this is a shitty thing and why it’s so frustrating.

I was actually watching Windows Weekly for the hell of it and when it ended saw this whole exchange. Somebody did start bitching in the chat about start times again and Leo made excuses. Eventually that guy got booted out.
Surprisingly I’ve been “allowed” back into TWIT chat and I just kind of lurk around but all the whining about start times kind of got old to be honest. We know how TWIT works and it’s never been on time since it started. So I suggested that a lot of the whining could be stopped by just putting 3 words next to the word “Schedule” on the Live page. Those words being, “all times estimated”
I figured I’d get kicked but instead Leo said, that’s a good idea and thus started this whole discussion on how to change things.
Honestly, it’s probably too little too late but it was almost like Leo was actually taking feedback from the chat for a change.
We’re still rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point but take whatever positives you can get. It also doesn’t change the negative undertone of the whole move on Sunday.

Hate to say it, but Dan Hendricks was always a troll. He was a dick in the chat rooms and if you approached him personally, he would shrivel up and he would kick you. But he wouldn’t kick you instantly. He will do it after you are gone for a while and then ban you. He then makes some excuse that where you are connecting from is a “Proxy”.
It’s called a fucking work connection Dan. He didn’t realize that two people can have the same IP address because more than two workers. In other words he doesn’t know shit about wtf a NAT connection. And he is a Network Admin at his regular job.
