Leo Laporte Likens John C. Dvorak to a Dishonest TV Preacher

Update: John is displeased, as one could expect. He discussed the situation with Andy Horowitz on DH Unplugged starting around 43:00. The “Chipotle” reference after our clip ends refers to around 40:15.

John says “In these situations, he’s just a prick.”

John also tweeted a few replies to sheep that keep asking him when he’s going to be on The New Screen Savers.

Thanks to a commenter and tipster for this new information.

The dumb, fat one on the left seems to hate the journalist maverick on the right.
The dumb, fat one on the left seems to hate the journalist maverick on the right.

Fount of idiocy Leo Laporte took to his live stream on Saturday to insult John C. Dvorak yet again. It wasn’t enough to ban him for things he said on No Agenda. It wasn’t enough to insult him again and again, finally blaming John for the breakup.

In the video above, you’ll see Leo Laporte say yet again that he doesn’t listen to No Agenda, but he feels completely comfortable insulting John C. Dvorak based on its contents. Leo Laporte compares John to an insincere TV preacher, lying to take stupid people’s money *cough bricks cough*.

Me leave TWiT? Never!
Me leave TWiT? Never!

Leo says that No Agenda is pulling the wool over its subscribers’ eyes and that it’s all an act to take advantage of the No Agenda fans, again calling it a “conspiracy theory” podcast. He says they’re cynical and are just in it for the money, not believing their own words.

But hey, Steve Gibson is perfectly OK with all of this, so why should any of Leo’s fans care. Oh shit. They do care. Read some of the replies to this tweet.

John was not pleased.

Yes NATO. It doesn’t even profit the US to be involved with NATO. We lose jobs. I would like to know where you read that he wants Japan and Korea to get nukes. Yes he also wants to deport people who BROKE THE LAW by coming here illegally. doesn’t sound insane to me. As i said, stop watching TV

Do you regret destroying your family and putting your whore wife with no qualifications in charge of your business? Seriously what is stopping you from jumping off a bridge right now? It IS a conspiracy podcast and when I used to listen the vast majority of the stuff they talked about was bullshit. Sadly, Dvorak’s participation in No Agenda did make me lose some respect for him–although, like Leo says, it is difficult to tell if he actually believes the nonsense they’re pushing. It might not be classy for Leo to comment on Dvorak at this point, but he’s not wrong.

What part is conspiracy? that everything is scripted on the “news” , and when they bring in “experts” from specific companies, they are typically sponsors?

        » Quote comment

      1. They’ve delved into some more conspiracy type stuff, in the second half of the show – which is what that part of the show is for, I’m pretty sure.

No Agenda is the same thing, for the news, that Twit is supposed to be for tech – commentary and discussion of the news.

But what Leo doesn’t get, or is purposely throwing shade on, is that they don’t require you to believe or agree with them. The last thing they do is preach. It’s just discussion, and entertainment. And for that, I’ve donated gladly. TwiT? I don’t bother, even for free.

Lets be honest – we know where this is coming from: Leo is a narcissist, and jealous that No Agenda is still going, and doing well, while his “empire” is dwindling daily, he’s pissy about them because he’s a Hillary-bot, and most of all, Leo is just a fucking asshole.

You see, our dear friend Leo has lamented more than once over the past few weeks at the loss of his former “musical director” to the “big time” when he accepted a position with “Coast to Coast. with George Noory . A show carried by the same network BTW.

For the uninitiated that radio show is the very pinnacle of “conspiracy” broadcasts with an audience of millions. Covering topics from Hollow Earth, UFO’s, Secret societies and shadow governments just to name a few of the topics.

Kind of makes you question his liberalism doesn’t it. Especially considering who he’s married to. I’ve seen nothing that suggests any hint of progressive ideals in either his personal life or his business practices.

Ideology will always expose its own lies regardless of the political bend. It has no place in government as a deadlocked Washington DC demonstrates. Speaking of politics, the way TWIT executes coverups and Leo attempts to bend reality to his own ends makes me wonder if this isn’t all just a dry run for political office.

That, IMO, has been the issue with John. He got put on these panels with millenials who suffer from Fear of Missing Out or a far left leaning clowns like Jason Snell who can’t take a joke. The production since OMG Chad left has been an absolute disaster.

John was best when he was with guys like Larry Magid, people who have been in the industry for awhile and have perspective.

I always say, if Calacanis can come back, AND HOST TWiT, John has a chance. I hope the two of them bury the hatchet sooner rather than later. It’s good for all involved.

Exactly this. It’s yet another symptom of the lack of planning for the show.

I started off as a regular listener. As the show degraded, I stopped listening except for when John was on. However, I did notice he had a shift in attitude and did tend to derail it at times. On this point, Leo’s previous criticism is valid. HOWEVER, I think it’s because the show was headed to sucksville and John was disengaging.

The fact the majority of your posts are basically sucking Leo’s dick I have to question your objectivity and overall intelligence. While your logic at times is technically correct your points are extremely weak and I don’t understand why you continue to give this man the benefit of the doubt when he’s clearly shown on many occasions that he never takes the high road. I’ve tried to point out that a person obliterates their valid criticism when they say batshit stupid and insulting things. There are plenty of things I don’t like about Leo, and in this blogs comments I don’t always praise him. I mainly call attention to incorrect logic and factually wrong assertions, and I sometimes pick on the nutjob commenters. No one needs to call him fat to make a point. It has nothing to do with evaluating his performance as a pundit, and it makes the commenter look foolish.

I actually endeavor to be very objective. I hope I’m reasonably close to that as often as possible. If you can’t see that, you could consider your own view may not be.

I’ve said in these comments before what I’d like to see commented on, and how I’d like to see that done. But I’m clearly a minority voice in these here. As for comedy. Every time I’ve listened, I’ve laughed hard. Usually at Curry. Dvorak I take more seriously and see the wisdom of his word often enough. I don’t listen all that often. A few times a year is a reasonable guess. I’m the end, that show is all about entertainment. I get a jolt of that particular entertainment and am good for weeks or even months.

  9. Given the polarising options in the upcoming US election is it too late for a wild card entry of a JCD with Hilton A Goring as a President/VP ticket? Throw in JJ as the Secretary of State given that he is a considered a public intellectual in the US, giving the proposal gravitas.

  10. 538 currently has Trump at 41% to Clinton’s 59% chance of winning(Trump was a bit higher a few days ago) so Leo is somewhat overconfident. Trump has started gaining momentum and closing – I guess the first debate will decide whether Clinton’s going to lose this.

If Grandma Nixon does lose it will at least be worth it simply to see the heads of the bought and paid for political and media establishment explode …

On the other hand, I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that a bunch of conspiracy loving No Agendafans would be Trump supporters and conservatives.

Oh Mr_Pickles…your’e so simple minded and silly. You have little idea of what defines a “Trump supporter”, a “conservative” or defining “Reaganomics”, or anything else for that matter. The devil is in the details your small mind is unable to fathom. Actually, Trump is far more populist than conservative — which means he has appeal to blue-collar Democrats, but also that he may not reliably stand by conservative principles in office. In fact, given his repeated position switching, the safe bet is that anything he says today will changed based on convenience. That should not encourage any conservative thinking of Trump in the primaries.
The so called “progressives” have gotten out of hand creating false narratives to placate the sheeple into thinking they have their best interests in mind. Former President Jimmy Carter believes that the American democracy has been transformed to an oligarchy. He criticized the Supreme Court’s vote in favor of Citizens United that has allowed unlimited funds to be spent in elections. Explain to me how the superdelegates of the DNC aren’t an Oligarchy? Most Trump supporters like myself can’t stand the guy, however, our intellect is so vastly superior we have incite and understanding you’ll never experience. America is no longer a democracy — never mind the democratic republic envisioned by Founding Fathers.
Rather, it has taken a turn down elitist lane and become a country led by a small dominant class comprised of powerful members who exert total control over the general population — an oligarchy, said a new study jointly conducted by Princeton and Northwestern universities.
One finding in the study: The U.S. government now represents the rich and powerful, not the average citizen, United Press International reported. Trump has stated over and over the problem is that the rich have become the most powerful political force in the United States, and the people’s votes and opinion have become ineffective, representing little more than a decoration. Many liberal thinkers believe that money is an enemy of democracy. Sure Trump isn’t perfect BUT WHO THE FUCK IS? You moron. He’s all we’ve got. Get the fuck over it. If you vote for that CUNT Hillary your’e a FOOL.

      1. The US government has *always* been by and for the elites and the wealthy.

The current crop of elites are no different than previous ones – their goal is to maintain their wealth and position and influencing the government is part of what they do.

Populism comes and goes – once in a while it dominates, but the shouters generally get tired of the cause and retreat to their sofas, six-packs of beer and a weekly romp wth the wife.

Trump is the latest to galvanize the slaves. And he won’t be the last but he’ll be a failure like all those that have come before.

            Idiots.

We Americans are ignorant and uneducated, by and large. Show me a Trump supporter who can correctly list his policy positions. That’s a job all on its own, as his positions change constantly.

Trump used to be against trade deals, and I supported that, but now he wants to renegotiate them, which will favor the rich and powerful.

Is Trump going to imprison the bankers who crashed our economy? Nope, not a peep.

Trump’s positions are absurd. Even if he ignores NAFTA, Mexico is never going to pay for a wall. What rube would ever believe that?

Trump seems to think the president has the powers of a king, as if he is just the CEO of America. Who could vote for anyone so profoundly clueless? Did he take a civics class in high school?

Trump thinks women who have abortions should be punished, but that’s not the law, and mainstream America doesn’t agree with that position. Has he even heard of Roe v. Wade? Does he actually know ANYTHING?

How any American can think Trump is going to make his or her life better baffles me. He is in this race for HIM, not for any voter, it’s all to feed his pathetic little ego. He has even said publicly that he just tells people what they want to hear.

Hillary is the establishment candidate, so I understand the contempt, but at least she eventually gets to the correct position, even if she spends years on the wrong side of things (her motto really should be “Hillary: wrong long before she’s right”), and because she’s a craven politician, she adopts a position once it becomes popular.

It all boils down to this: Democrats generally believe in facts, using the best science and theories available to critical-thinkers.

Republicans generally believe what they “feel” . They “feel” Trump will help. They “feel” illegal immigrants are stealing their jobs. They “feel” we need stop-and-frisk.

They have no evidence to back any of this up, mind you. But who cares about using your brain when you can just “feel” your way to greatness?

America had it’s greatest economic boom when the top tax rate was over 90%, and that was no accident. The government used tax revenue to create the national highway transportation system, and that had a YUGE effect on the economy. With the top tax rate that high, business owners reinvested in their companies, and they grew. And employees’ wages grew in line with productivity.

Wages have been flat for over 30 years, while productivity has skyrocketed. And who has benefited? The Trumps of the world, not the Hillarys.

Hillary broke a bunch of laws with the way she ran her email server, but Trump actually bribed a politician to avoid an investigation of his criminal conduct. Hillary’s conduct may have damaged national security, but Trump actually stole from lots of people. That makes it pretty clear to me who’s the real narcissist psychopath.

  12. I’d like to ask a favor of all the TD faithful. I’ve just posted a new article and used what I believe is a new hashtag when referring to Lisa. The post has little to do with TWIT other than thanking them for abusing YouTube takedowns thus demonetizing a YouTube channel that primarily hosts thunderstorm videos.
But here’s the hashtag I cam up with. Or at least I think I came up with it. If I didn’t it sounds cool anyway and seems an appropriate label.
    It’s…

    Try it out.

  13. I was a hot chick in the 90’s and I hung in the tech circles. I believe I can provide some insight here. When the girls went out at night and saw these two it was quite entertaining. Leo was smart, jovial and funny but there was something deviant about him. He was always with John who was sexier, smarter and a nice guy deep down. We girls always preferred John and I think Leo knew it to be true. This is the underlying reason for the hate. It is jealousy but not about money or fame or brains, JCD always got the hotter women. Also, Leo was married but loved the ladies anyway. Always making perverse jokes and looking at us wantingly. He didn’t have the cool reserved nature of John who just made us melt with those eyes.

  15. I agree Tanya is overweight.

But we have to admit that Lecia Lens/The New Jeff Jarvis/ Ken Sinek/Holden/Jimmy Jam is a sick person. The garbage humor and inserting a link every sentence is unreadable. They are so poorly written that it looks like they are machine generated to insert links. I rarely make it through those. articles

I found out from the IRC that Lecia is such a coward even the people in the IRC don’t know him. Supposedly he is married. He thinks he is smart, he thinks he is funny. He thinks because he talks to one detractor (Faux Journalist) he is able to handle criticism. But he is the guy who bans people. Many of them blame him for everyone leaving. He is dangerous. He is going to turn on the guys in the IRC one day so everyone should get out now if he knows you. He keeps switching nicks and uses multiple nicks. They think he is weird but he does everything for the site. There is no team anymore.

What an awful person, can you picture this asshole walking around knowing he ridicules people with no mercy for kicks. It is not even funny. I like this site for the info but lets all pray it goes away if it takes him with it. Lkalif was never like this, he never did this to people. He gave Helloworld from freedom but Helloworld was comedic, this guy just repeats HWs jokes and adds links to his shitty article. Yeah, we know about the twitter pic, Helloworld made that joke in 2014.

Wow, what a loser, how long can he go. Supposedly its just him now and few people in the IRC that he thinks like him. I would wish everyone they get friends like Tanya before this devil. He is truly a shitty person. If you ever wondered what a genuine asshole is like, this is it.
