Leo Laporte’s Most Fervent Fans Rejoice When He’s Gone

When Jason Calacanis (who doesn’t hold a candle to Becky Worley as a TWiT host) apologized for not being Leo to a fan who traveled to the Shithouse for a live show, the fan replied: “This is better.”

We aren’t sure if this man of courage is a reader of Total Drama. He may or may not be part of #OneAss. Whoever he is, he is our hero for speaking the truth on the live stream, and we wholeheartedly concur with his opinion. He truly embodies our founding fathers’ independent spirit.

E pluribus unum. In other words: One Ass.

  1. If he had said that in #twitlive he’d have been kick/banned. When he was out of camera range, he was probably jumped, wrestled to the ground and ejected. By Tonya.

    1. I enjoyed Jason as well – I felt like he got a discussion out of the Reddit topic that Leo could not have effectively facilitated. He even got a decent show out of Ohdoctah if you can belief that.

        1. There are lots of people who build up characters for their podcasts while acting another way in real life. So, at least we know what we are getting with Jason: someone who’s always trying to work the system and does a decent job in the process.

        2. He’s a schmuck… he said something like here’s another sponsor I was lucky enough to get to invest in.

I still laugh about the story of how Elon “E” Musk had to beg him to take the first Tesla Model S off the line. I imagine them as gay lover, bet Calacanis is a total power top.

  2. Nobody cares if Leo is gone. Any show will be better with Leo gone.
I could put a bowtie and suspenders on my dog and he could do a better job.
Padre AKA. the Fat friar’s contract is up next year. That can only be a good thing. Maybe the ” Holy See” will ship his big ass to Sierra Leone to fix quadcopters.

  3. Leo’s gone? Since when?

I called “Eighty-eight Eighty-eight Ask Leo” on Sunday and received excellent advice on how to make Sausage El Gumbo using holy water and a bag of dicks.

  4. Sunday’s TWiT with Jason was good…but he won’t be asked back because he didn’t draw out the program over the 2 hour mark to fit the ads to one every 1/2 hour max or no more than 3 per show!!!

    1. that would apply to becky worley as well.they both were less than two hours. when leo is on many shows are 2 hours or more. going past two hours was once a rare occasion now its almost weekly.

  5. This clip is funny as hell. This is the problem we have with Leo is getting lazier with his age and one person suggested this was a good thing, well yes and no. Those of us who are die hard fans of Windows Weekly or Security Now or whatever else Leo hosts will watch and praise when Leo’s gone because he drags the show on, but there’s people that love Leo to death and supposedly he holds the network together with the shows he hosts and they need him for those money maker shows.

My thought on this is, is this true about the staple shows as it were? Do they need Leo to host them? Do they have lower downloads because he isn’t there? If this is false and the downloads stay the same or go up in viewer ship than Leo can go on and take as many vacations as he wants!

The only problem is Leo has a hard time letting go and watching from the side lines as it were and he needs to hire back his better in house talent and let them run their shows, if he wants to go into retirement status and keep rolling in the money.

To the people who think he wants to retire and be lazy, look closer. Like everything Leo does, he wants to have his cake and eat it too. You can’t act lazy and want to retire, but want to control TWIT and host your shows at the same time. That’s Leo’s major problem.

I’m all for Tom and Becky and Sarah, Amber, etc to come back and do their shows and host Leos shows. Leo can retire for all I care, just get rid of Padre and Gum.

    Thanks TD

    1. in this case its have his SOUP and eat it too. all those hosts probably wouldnt want to come back either they know what to expect and many if not all are doing better off. he had a good group of hosts and he and his wife/ ceo/ bookkeeper messed it all up. he could have retired by now and only do a show or two if he had kept the good hosts. now if he were to do that it would kill the network.

    2. The ultimate goal is to roll over in bed with a camera there, read an ad and go back to sleep, maybe a soup or two. I’m the star. A nice mix of egomania and lazimania. The two can coexist and what they yield is what you get. Reading articles out loud while half asleep.

    3. I really enjoyed Iyaz filling in on WW and I think Padre did a nice job too. They know who the stars are and get out of the way, Leo’s ego won’t allow that.

  6. For Leo, let me explain how successful people run a business.

You get paid very little. You use your profit to hire talented people, which leads to greater revenue. You take that revenue and hire even more talented people, which increases revenue even more.

After several years, if you’re both lucky AND talented yourself, the business is making so much money that you can start to take a decent salary, or maybe even take a vacation.

You never, EVER let good talent go because you want to pay yourself more money. That’s how you run your business right into the ground. If that’s what you really want to do, you shouldn’t own your own company. You’re too stupid.

In short, you get paid LAST, not first, if you get paid at all.

This is how you build a business which lasts, one which can eventually continue without your involvement.

    1. Exactly Macsimcon, you should be CEO. Anyone can save money by firing people and not doing CES or SXSW. That is not complicated, a sixteen year old can save your business money that way, but that is shortsighted.

    2. I guess University of Phoenix School of Business isn’t that great at teaching business skills. Good thing Lisa is skilled at being on her knees.

  7. Anyone else think it’s hilarious that Leo recorded his Nerdist episode weeks ago and they still haven’t released it? It was supposed to be released last week, but they found someone better.

Here’s the announcement page that Leo linked to on Twitter:

Podcast… er, Netcast pioneer, radio guy, tech guru, and entrepreneur par excellence Leo Laporte finally makes it to the Nerdist Podcast to look at podcasting (of course), social media, trolls and hecklers, Marc Maron’s Obama interview, and the future of technology. LAST MINUTE CHANGE: Leo’ll be coming soon. Cameron Esposito will guest on Friday. Patience, TWiT fans…”

And here it is Monday of the following week and they still haven’t released his episode. You’d think if they were really interested in releasing it, they’d just push back their schedule. They’ll probably do a Saturday dump or something.

  8. Actually, Jason did a good job. Kept the topics moving, got all the guests involved and kept the length under two hours. If only O?Doctah was somewhere else, this would have been one of the best.
