He tried to show off to Georgia Dow by bragging about taking his lovely wife and Damien to a $1,633.50 (for three) restaurant. He expressed his desire to visit each location of the restaurant that makes up for his stub, despite only having dined at the Las Vegas, Paris, and London locations.
In the same conversation, telling her “don’t repeat this,” he tells Georgia Dow that he needs to find a new vet, because Ozzy’s vet will not put Ozzy down and instead insists on medical treatment.
Leo Laporte wants to find a “country vet” that understands that family pets are expendable livestock that should just be put down if minor (for him) costs arise from age-related ailments.
What a sick fuck. Hopefully the local ASPCA can get Ozzy adopted out of Laporte’s care.

I’ve been to the old brick shit house and the dog was there with Lisa and her creepy “boy” who got great glee from teasing the poor pooch. The “boy” seems like a sociopath who will kill both Leo and Lisa one day with a stabbing saying the voices in his head told him to do it.

Yeah, I don’t have Leo Money, and he is an asshole for saying that, while gloating about a $1000+ restaurant bill, but I’ve had pets put down for less money before, and probably a lot younger than Ozzie. I had a cat once that was less than 2 years old, had a gastric colon infection of some sort, was shitting blood on the carpet practically every night even though it had been previously potty trained, and the bill was going to be $1500 for surgery. That was back in the eighties when somehow we got a computer for almost double that amount. The vet at the time recommended euthanasia because it was an extremely stressful scenario for the animal, and it wasn’t considered humane to put them through that. I was sad, but I can’t say that I didn’t agree with him. I would make the same decision again.
We’ve had numerous pets over the years. Only one dog died due to “natural” causes – she was a 12 year old golden retriever that sprained her back really badly, and died in the same night. The rest we had put down because of major health issues that were causing pain and a depreciated quality of life for the animal. Most were around the natural life expectancy of each though.
I think a lot of vets now shame people into paying much higher fees for diagnoses and for maintaining the life of a pet under any circumstance instead of looking at whether continuing through a tragic situation is good for them. Remember, Leo does live in California. That probably has a lot to do with the mindset and associated costs of the vet he uses. I would never pay $2000/day to a vet just for diagnostics or an overnight stay.

Even if you have the money to spend it’s not just about what it costs it’s about quality of life. If you know an animal is going to be kept alive but always suffering then is it about the animal or is it about YOU being a #Selfish #douchebag .
The only thing I agree with is that as much as I love animals and had many over the years I would not and do not have one now because I couldn’t afford the vet bills.
That AND many vets DO look at your pet as a cash machine and would rather have a suffering animal that they could keep treating as a piggy bank than doing the humane thing.
Ozzy is ten years old which is old for a dog of any breed and while I don’t defend LaPuke’s care of him I can’t damn him for considering putting him down but only if it’s for the animal and not the money.

The way Leo goes from bragging about expensive food, to looking for a vet that will put his dog down in order to save money, is tasteless, stupid and typically Leo.
But….. I can fully understand his mindset. A dog’s life and health can be just a ‘milk cow’ for these high clientele vets. The animals quality of life should be the first priority. And even then, the (financial) burden for the owners should count.
A normal person (read: someone different from Leo) would look for a different vet for a 2nd opinion or a better price.
And like many other TD readers, I highly doubt he already paid this much. He’s so egocentric that he’s using this sad story to brag how rich he is. Same for his idiotic remark (that he almost always has to mention on all Macbreak Weekly shows) that the (max-ed out) black Mac Pro is now used only as a Minecraft server for his son.

Shannon’s career started with Hak when they decided they needed to start pulling in eyeballs for their podcasts – so they went out and found a good looking, pleasant, enthusiastic, young woman. This is an absolute cliche in broadcasting, you have a programme mainly watched by men – so you bring in a good looking female host. It’s cynical, but it works. In fact I remember a story about an electrical engineering YouTube series where the host noticed a strange spike in viewing figures for a certain episode – his wife had appeared for a few minutes … women attract male viewers, attractive women doubly so.
Hak could have tried to source a genuine tech expert, but that’s more difficult, would probably cost more, and doesn’t have the instant viewer hit of an attractive co-host.
Anyway, Shannon was always enthusiastic and personable, the male viewers doted on her – sure she wasn’t highly technical compared to many of the viewers but who cared, she picked up stuff by osmosis and was the “people person” Darren wasn’t.
That “normal Shannon”, someone most people would have little bad to say about, is still there – but a newer, toxic, Shannon is emerging.
Twitter accounts, apart from being mostly shit, are a great place to see the personality of a media personality – so what do we see at @Snubs?
Well the normal stuff I suppose, part related to her public face – tech generalist, and part related to her personal views. However a lot of those views are shitting on men, and men in tech. She has 37,000 followers – what’s the betting they are almost all men, and most of them have some sort of crush on her. Do you think she’d have the same number if she was 300lbs with bad teeth? Every time she posts those men rush to reply and mostly stroke her ego – whatever she comes out with – including the “men are shits narrative”.
I guess she must have a circle of friends/social bubble where attacking men is the norm so she is never called out on it. If she was working for an NBA team would she regularly post about what awful people black men are? We all know the answer to that.
She, to be honest, would have got absolutely nowhere in tech media if she wasn’t an attractive woman that the average male tech worker longed to help. Nice male tech workers, like the ones that make up her Twitter followers, have put her where she is today – and now she’s spitting bigoted feminist rage at them because, although she would be nothing without them, she feels she’s been treated unfairly – unfairly as in having a whole media career because men found her attractive and so watched her output. An ugly man or woman with little real tech experience would stand little to no chance of similar success.
So Shannon today is two people – part “Shannon Classic” the original, that people actually liked – and the dismal and toxic “New Shannon” – a mixture of foot-stamping feminist and spoilt brat/princess. Sooner or later the lovelorn techies that swoon to her every Tweet are going to get tired of the bad smell her ideological leanings are giving off.
Someone who can’t see modern feminism, in 1st world countries, for the hatred it is, simply can’t see the wood for the trees. In decades past if someone had a natural inclination for hate they would join a racist or fascist group – today that’s frowned upon, and instead the accepted route to express hate is through groups that are centered around identity politics. One day that will be unacceptable too, thank goodness.
Personally I suspect she’ll keep on ploughing the feminist furrow, oblivious to what a fool she’s making of herself, then twenty years later realize what an asshole she was.
