We have said some mean stuff on this site, even me. But never in the exalted history of this site have we ever implied that TWiT or anyone at TWiT would take advantage of starving children.
Can someone please help me out? Is TWiT donating the proceeds from the New Year’s show to UNICEF? Are the proceeds of the TWiT shirts going to UNICEF? Partial proceeds? Will TWiT be making a public donation to UNICEF? Are the fans supposed to donate?
I don’t understand how this works and as a journalist, I need facts. One thing you can count is you will get an exact figure from Leo. He is not the type of guy to just say “a lot” or “we could not be happier with the money raised” or “UNICEF is so so grateful.” I am certain we will get actual numbers like every other fundraiser right? Hello? Hello? Anyone? Is this on?
What’s the status of TWiT? Is it really ailing badly? I tried to get a job there a couple times (sent in resumes) and no go. Is it a blessing I didn’t get hired or what? I don’t spend as much time watching the network as I used to. Thanks.

I don’t think it’s on the brink of bankruptcy or anything like that but it’s viewership numbers are dropping. Not that any place, large or small, doesn’t have a lot of internal politics that we all have had deal with, but now with Lisa in charge it does appear that TWIT is a pretty toxic work environment. Personally I think you should count your blessings but I don’t know what kind of situation you’re presently coping with. The TWIT employee turn-over rate lately isn’t very good either.

I’ll never get past Leo being such a thoroughly sexist pig but it’s not like he doesn’t kick back at least some of the wealth his TWIT monster has created. Any number of times he has mentioned donations given to organizations like EFF in their battle to fight various online causes or Wikipedia during their annual fundraising pleas. There’s a good argument on whether he does any donations because he actually does have some kind of socially redeeming essence or just to improve his image but in any case it’s a good tax write-off. He’s in that category where you know he itemizes every deduction possible on his tax form.
