Chad is OUT – Updated

What #soup calls an an ordinary day-to-day occurrence may be more than meets the eye. Long standing employee Jason Howell has, for years, had his schedule as set in stone as the lunch order of one extra large soup for Leo and one small salad with a small piece of salmon for the lovely and talented Sarah Lane. (Which she rarely even finishes.) That stone’s setting has apparently been shaken.

Vaaaatttttssss Uuuuuup
Vaaaatttttssss Uuuuuup

Judging by the purple on the screen (above) it appears that Jason is off of TNT duties and onto manning the controls of Macbreak Weekly and other big shows. But it is that something else, wich is amiss, that caught #drama’s attention. What was announced as a “shakeup of the  producers schedule” could actually be a firing. The employees all know to shut-up or suffer the consequences so you won’t hear this news anywhere else.

———————-UPDATED———————

What is not up for debate is this, Chad is out as a full timer at TWiT. He is down to one show, the GizWhiz, which translates to at-most 180 days worth of employment. Of course all fired employees are announced as members of BYB. Remember, Justin Young was also announced as continuing on BYB (although he has still not appeared there) and of course Shannon is on BYB. That show is like the way station for the one-way train out of town. The strategy of not announcing that people are being fired or quitting seems to be fooling most of the morons in #twitlive. Unfortunately, that don’t fly in #drama and our IRC is based in Iceland. Brrrrrrr it’s cold in here, we must get truth out of here.

No one is pointing fingers but...
No one is pointing fingers but…

Speculation had been swirling as to why the change. Has Chad moved on to something else? (Updated – No) Has being friends with Brian Brushwood become a capital offense?(Updated – Yes)  It was odd that Reddit Up had its lifespan cut short while Padre’s Corner is in full swing, neither show was awash in ads. Head-scratcher! I tell ya.

The ex-employee list grows longer with each day. But yea, everything is ok at TWiT, #TotalDrama makes stuff up.
Anyway, all of us are fellow castaways of TWiT, and the team at #TotalDrama wishes Chad well and expects him to do well wherever he ends up. He even has a Patreon set up if you want to help out.

  1. Chad has always been one of the most determined people out there; so to see him shafted is sad. All the youth is being taken out of TWiT and Chad has given nothing but loyal support and devotion to Leo. Guess there’s a lesson to be learned, don’t trust TWiT. They will only take your trust and abuse it for their own gain.

Hopefully Brian Brushwood will be knocking on his door soon, Austin here he comes!

  2. well well well.

You know, Tom, Brian, JuRY, OMGChad, and a couple others could totally team up and make a bang up network even with everyone being remote. You can also bet that AZ is rooting around trying to snap these people up.

However, in his statement, Leo made it kinda sound like OMGCraft was still on or coming back to the network.

What I don’t understand is why to kill OMGCraft unless Chad was the one that wanted to separate it from the TWiT brand. Chad was more than happy to put forth the work for free just to produce his own show with their studio. I’m thinking they needed to separate themselves from Chad because, once again, someone had a show that was doing well without any #soup / LA input. They have it in their mind that only their show ideas are the good ones, any successful independent show is axed.

But to be fair, I think Chad knows he’s building a following and doesn’t want that following for his content to be dragged into / through the TWiT meat grinder. Now he can focus on OMGCraft and grow himself apart from TWiT. Chad was smart, he essentially used the TWiT experience to become a board op / producer capable of batting any job for any broadcaster, especially for live events.

    1. Seems like twit network wanted to be editorial content analysis for long time but now has switched gears to be more like the cable news that they never wanted to be, more pasteurized and homogenized with older legacy tech news hacks, e.g. Mike Elgan types that have or are transitioning out of older failed legacy media print as they try to rebirth to iptv networks like twit. That’s okay but seems to not favor less experienced tech savy types like Mr. Johnson. I think it’s a generation thing, with older folks like Leo and his significant other business agent trying to stay relevant to a new iptv mass audience, they are somewhat successful looking at their ad revenues, but other than the live aspect to twit shows isn’t this just seeming like re-baked legacy broadcast and cable?

    1. Definitely sounds like it wasn’t his decision. You don’t quit a job unless you have something else lined up — no need to “figure out the next chapter of your life”

Giz Wiz will be cancelled soon, too. Chad’ll probably move back to Texas and that’ll be the end of the show.

Maybe Chad will join Swhood & JuRY for NA or something.

  3. I’m loving this train wreck. It’s obvious Leo is going to drag the advertisers along as far as possible while doing as little as possible. They constantly admit Leo is the moneymaker. Every canceled show is at least one less person to pay. When it gets down to the all Leo channel he’ll shut down TWiT and stream his radio show from his house like Art Bell used to do.

    1. Heck, that is what LEO used to do… sad that he’s regressing in life. I knew TWiT was headed for the gutter as soon as Leo started boinking Liza but I never thought he’d be back down to just himself again.

    2. Unfortunately the train wreck is taking out innocent victims. I liked Leo several years ago, when he was still married. I quickly figured out who he really is, the only show I watch now is AAA live, so he doesn’t make any money off of it.

  4. In fact Friar Ballsucker BJ had the balls to tell people that his Padre’s corner had been cancelled while it just returned to being a personal project that cannot get advertising but still gets listed as a current show.

It seems that you just have to ‘slight’ Soup or Slop to be quickly slipped towards the door.

For Shannon it was a little harder, she just wouldn’t go away, he had her Revision 3 stuff to fall back and they hoped to have her gone until the eagle eyes of #Drama contributors alerted us to the emails that were shown on screen by Soup that showed the intent to quietly slip her out the door.

With Chad they know that they don’t have to fire him, they just have to reduce the amount of work he gets and what he will get paid knowing that by reducing his financial stability he will quit and move on. Laporte will either take back on Giz Wiz or cancel the show and move it to a day that will work around but I think it will be gone as well.

In fact if we go back to the ‘unboxing’ of the latest tax fraud purchase for the Gold digger Chad was leaving the building. Whatever happened was immediately after Triangulation. While Soup was doing his unboxing (though unboxing should be a term for dumping the Gold Digger LOL) he must have been getting his new ‘job description’.

I don’t really care for Chad, I do find him irritating but nobody deserves to lose their job. In fact I am sure that the cause for his revised Job description was over the rush by the TD and Video Editor to make sure that the 8 minutes tirade against Heather Harmann was eradicated and deleted. Soup was rather irritated the whole time that all this was going on.

TWiT is so tiring to watch these days and watch people as they walk on eggshells in fear of hurting Soup’s or Slop’s feelings!

    1. I don’t care for Chad either, but I care about him. He is a loyal employee busting his balls for these worthless sacks of crap. Chad is a good person as most of the staff are, unlike the bastard who own’s this halfwit operation.

  5. I did not see this one coming. But one day Dayne was there and the next day he was gone. I think the booking for twit has not been good and the numbers have gone down and they have blamed him for that. I think Jason has better contacts. With this jason is no longer editing TNT. They said someone is coming in to work with Mike. Maybe chad asked for more money. I can’t wait for the blog post.

    1. Honestly, I didn’t. Based on comments Leo and Chad have made and seeing Chad’s apartment in his videos, it’s clear that he wasn’t paid much. Taking OMGcraft off the network meant he got paid even less… so they’re paying very little to have a producer, TD, editor, AND host. Seems like a good bang for the buck.

I wonder what he did to slight Leo and/or Lisa…

Also, yeah, I’d like to know about this Heather thing… I saw the post about her a couple of days ago. Does anyone have an unedited video of that? The one on that post is hard to understand because it cuts the context out of situation

        » Quote comment

      1. Leo demeaned her for not actually screening the callers. Leo doesn’t want hard questions about enabling trim on ssd’s, because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He implied that the audience wouldn’t understand the question and it would bore them, when it’s actually his inability to answer the question without Google search or the chat room

  6. I took notes at the Austin meeting. Leo made it clear when the rift began with Chad. It all had to do with the Revenue Chad did not get from the YouTube videos of his shows on his channel. He wanted the money and Leo thought that he (Leo) should have the money. The comment was Leo was providing the studio time. That’s when Chad began making stuff at home. Chad was becoming troublesome. Leo said, at the event, that once Chad gets his skills up he will quit the company like everyone else who figures they can do things without Twit. This was the foreboding.

It’s all about the money and Leo wants to keep it all. The only time he spends is to make himself look rich for the hometown gal, Lisa the magnificent.

The sad thing is that his “people” are generally very loyal to him. He is not loyal to anything or anyone not in his pants.

  7. Just look back one year and see how everything has changed for the worst.

Greedy #Soup and #Yoko have destroyed their own network by forcing their best talents away.

No reason to watch this wasteland of Elgum, Tongulp, PadreBJ, and Noodles.

    1. The TNT host Mikey Mousey Mikie is adored by his bosses. They sing his praises and spew out the numbers increase in viewership to the show. They’re not dumb, they may believe his TNT’s host will bring his following from the various blogs he’s popular on. Anyone want to bet that’s the hat their hanging the network sponsorship on?

After all, isn’t it just download numbers that are provided to potential and existng sponsors? Or is it just all high tech smokescreen to fool them (the sponsors)?

  8. I would like someone to list Chad’s TV/Video accomplishments before joining TWiT and being made Producer of one of TWiT’s biggest shows and made host of other shows. All at the age fo early twentysomething. Yes, list all of his TV/Video experience before joining TWiT. I’ll wait.

      1. My point is, this is yet another illustration of the incompetence of twit. Eileen had her shit together. Leo drove her away with one too many dressing downs. So instead of bringing in an experienced producer/manager, they divided Eileen’s duties between two inexperienced lapdogs. Chad and Tony. Tony getting the administrative duties, Chad the producing duties. Chad had no clue what he was doing. His only previous experience was making youtube videos about his cats. If anything, Leo installed him much as Kim Jong Il installs generals.

On a side note, Jeff Needles redefines Sycophant and brings it to levels never before witnessed in the history of man.

    1. Well, what would the answer provide/prove? Because he is twenty something he doesn’t deserve opportunity for revenue share or a chance at revisiting for evaluation? Does he now have to pay royalties to Leo for creating a space where chad has grown an audience, is that going to be your point? If Chad were 18 right now, is he still not qualified to be treated in any manner with respect?

Sorry, I am going a bit overboard, but the result of answering this hypothetical doesn’t sound like it’s in the right frame of reference…

        » Quote comment

    2. Chad was just a kid editing videos when Leo lost Eileen Rivera to Google… so Leo appointed Chad as his personal TD.

Chad being just a kid meant Leo could pay him peanuts compared to Eileen and also ride his ass. Now the kid is a little older, probably has the confidence to ask for the money/respect he deserves and so he got the boot. This is Leo’s MO, he’s a shitty boss, he’d rather hire nobodies for a pittance than pay good people their due.

  9. Chad has clearly stated on his Patreon blog that he was given the cold #soup treatment today. As we can see he responds to this by saying “Today, I lost my job. That leaves a lot of uncertainties.”

He also says that “There is absolutely nothing hostile between me, TWiT, Leo, or Lisa. Although I am no longer an employee at TWiT, I will continue hosting The Giz Wiz and making appearances on Before You Buy for now.” It is clear from this statement that he is being gagged from telling the #truth by #Nympho-Mistress Lisa Cuntsell as she will certainly end his appearance on Before You Buy and Jizz Wizz if he steps out of line.

    1. Probably, figures as TGW is the only show I could bear to watch anymore. I warmed up to Chad after a long time but his begging for money hours after losing his job is lame. Guess I shouldn’t blame him for acting rashly, kid just got his first pube last week.

      1. I agree with you, Richie. The Patreon move stinks. Chad could have taken the high road. Instead, he looks like a sniveling brat.

          » Quote comment

    2. I would probably expect DGW to get to episode 1500 and that’s it; Leo doesn’t want to look bad and deny Dick that milestone. So that would mean there’s nine more episodes left, enough to get to the end of the year clipfests and let the show go out on a ‘festive’ note. JMO though.

  10. It absolutely amazes me how fast this trainwreck is happening since a year ago. It’s clear they are really hurting financially and are grasping at anything to keep them afloat. Surely the sponsors have noticed this by now.

@David, my guess is that TNT will be the very last thing to go before the network goes down in flames, after all, it’s really the first show that started this downward spiral in the first place (with Tom being let go.)

      » Quote comment

    1. @Esch that would make sense and I would agree with you but, Jason (who is a wonder TD was moved from doing TNT which doesn’t bode well for it. ) My theory is the quality of TNT will continue to deteriorate and they will cancel the show and not renew Mike’s contract in one swoop. I could be wrong tho.

      1. Yep, freaking geniuses that run this shit show said it was going to be a breaking news show and MIke would go to where the news was happening. What a bunch, 2, flipping idiots to try and peddle these lies on us. We all knew it was lies.

  11. Jizz Wiz should have been cancelled years ago… And putting gummy in as host of TNT was about as good an idea as having Leno at 10 pm.

Not being able to find credible guests for shows like TWiT is going to be a HUGE problem.

Obviously not enough for him to keep his job or his YouTube revenue.

I wonder how long it’ll be before Sarah gets the boot?

  13. @Diego,I disagree.Seems the only thing he loves is himself. Also, anyone else seen the “at work grabassing #soup & Cohoe constantly do .Like they are trying to convince everyone watching them they ” love” each other. Mark my word’s, that when this relationship comes apart it won’t be pretty.Leo will regret ever meeting her.Nobody in their right mind would put themselves in that situation, cept a kid or old man thinking with his wrong head.If you get my drift.

    1. Leo has adored Sarah since ZDTV. I don’t know why she stays, but Lisa can’t touch her. Every firing you see, is because of Lisa. Leo actually doesn’t like to fire people.

  14. As TWiT walks more people out the back door, there will be more and more examples of how the home studio + YouTube + Patreon model is the way to go (Tom, Brian, now Chad). It’s getting more and more difficult to see why somebody would need to move to Petaluma and set up in some multi-million dollar TechTV recreation. TWiT aspires to be “the CNN of tech” when in fact CNN is itself past its prime. The Leos and Mikes of the industry will continue on for a while, subsidized by Leo’s radio show earnings, until there are no more of them left.

  15. Chad, when paired with Sarah was exposed as inadequate, similar to Elgan whem teamed w/ SL. He’s a nice kid – good TD & editor and fine on the GizWiz. What happened is a shame but LK is slashing budgets and staff every where – I believe some big names are next including Sarah, who despite being a fabulous component of the network is a thorn in Mrs Laporte’s ass. I’m hoping that Robert gets reassigned soon – within a year or so the network will be devoid of on-air talent. Greed is unbecoming and L&L’s hubris has diminished & devalued the product

  16. The thing about Leo & TWiT is that it defines old school broadcasting. Leo La came up thru the network system & he recreated it with himself as the Grand Wazoo. Having all these shows & a studio with a high overhead is insane. And the sponsers he has — can he really be making anything from hawking razor blades and shaving cream?

The real biz model is what his buddy John Dvorak is doing at No Agenda. To me, the show sucks; just a bunch of paranoid conspiracy mumbo-jumbo but these guys pull in around 3 grand per show from their “producers” and they produce the show from home, probably sitting around in their underwear.

Creating a “network” with sponsers & hosts & a big studio on the internet is everything the internet isn’t.

  17. As soon as Tom was let go and Brian/Justin left I stopped watching TWIT. Used to watch roughly 2-4 shows a week, but was fed up with them getting rid of their best people (or at least driving them away). I am a proud Patreon supporter of CordKillers and Night Attack and occasionally watch other shows done by Tom/Brian/Justin. Proud to say that I haven’t watched a single TWIT show since those guys left.

Just found out (via Night Attack) that Chad was fired. Horrible. But I imagine MUCH better things for him now. Just like Tom/Brian/Justin are now doing better away from TWIT I feel soon Chad will be doing the same. Best of luck to Chad and…

DOWN WITH TWIT!!!! (hard to say as I was such a fan for almost 10 years… but they did it to themselves)

  19. It’s so sad to read about all of these goings on behind the scenes at Twit. I have been following Leo and Twit since 1999 at TechTV. I have never cared for Lisa and the way she seems to be the one pulling all the (wrong) strings at Twit. And Leo just let’s her do it, somehow able to ignore what is really going on, no wonder his kids don’t want any involvement in Twit.

Twit is imploding and its all Lisa’s fault, I hope somebody writes a book about it, I bet it would be a juicy read.

Chad will be ok, he is learning a lot right now and he will come out of this all for the better. I am disgusted by the way it seems he is being treated. I think he has some good connections and will have some good options to continue on wether it be in broadcasting or whatever.
