It should now be obvious to anyone that TWiT is in an irreversible death spiral after recently suffering its third consecutive month of staff firings.
In early June, TWiT bid adieu to Tony Wang, Kara Kohl and Frédérique Louis, three employees whose hard work and loyalty was reciprocated by getting fired. Then, in July, Nathan Olivarez-Giles was told adios muchacho, given a bus ticket and escorted off the property.
Last week, TWiT staff assembled for an #insidetwit “production meeting”, a name which must be an inside joke at this point because everyone who works there knows that TWiT podcasts have no production value whatsoever.
TotalDrama’s attempts to infiltrate this meeting failed after we got lost and ended up at Lagunitas. However, we think the meeting must have gone down like an episode of The Apprentice in which everyone had to make a statement about why they should not be fired.
When the smoke finally cleared, TWiT said goodbye to the devilishly debonair Bryan Burnett, the gfycat goddess Carly Perkins and the completely abominable Tonya Hall (fired a second time because the first time it didn’t stick?). We wish them all good luck and hope they land on their feet soon.
As expected, Leo & Lisa Laporte celebrated all the money they just saved by booking another vacation, this time to Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth where dreams come true™,unless of course you were just fired from TWiT and can no longer make rent. To show there were no hard feelings the following postcard was mailed out, with postage due on delivery:

At any rate, this “Eastside Studio” seems like nothing more than an interim home for TWiT while they reduce staff, cut shows, and ultimately plan to move out-of-state. No it isn’t due to that insect Leo only this past Sunday said that he wouldn’t be keeping his company that no company should have more than 20 employees because of all of the regulations involved in having 20 or more employees having a dailytechnewsshow requires at least two other people helping the produce well that’s 22 people fire those two people have a weekly show instead of a Daily Show simple.
He actually mentioned age discrimination as one of the regulations one does not need to follow as closely with less than 20 employees. It’s been so many years, I first started watching when they were in a small house. I remember Colleen, then Tom Merritt joining and just before I stopped watching they moved into a huge studio. I think they had a second studio in New York as well.
I use to watch every show. I’d leave the livestream on all day in the background.
I can kind of guess one thing that happened. Youtube really took off and all the old sponsors I saw on Twit were now spending their money on Youtube channels like h3h3, LinusTech, Co-optional and hundreds of others.
Someone mentioned above about Leo saying it was a mistake to do video shows. Is this true? Why would he say that? From what I see on YouTube there are tech people making a lot of money from ads and sponsors and getting huge viewing numbers.

Leo’s still able to have his business ropes because of the advertising money that’s unrightfully coming in (thanks Lisa). Imagine that all shows would be distributed by (for example) YouTube, where the numbers of viewing are actually real. Giving advertisers and sponsors insight into the age groups, demographics, actual time spend watching, number etc., would mean the end of his party.

His advertisers have questioned metrics and suffered the wrath of Leo’s tongue on air. Hardly surprising when not only are there visible “comparative” metrics via the likes of YouTube that advertisers may find contradictory but it is reinforced when the CEO on her own blog blurted out that her Art Is Anal Agency couldn’t provide metrics for its customers, both podcasters & advertisers, and ergo such an admission may be seen as evidential that figures supplied to the advertisers on TWiT shows are maybe a little inflated.
It was interesting to see Leo now hocking the “Inferior Dollar Shave Club” razors (his words when he was advertising Harry’s) but he used exactly the same spiel almost word for word. The Twitch and YouTube numbers are far more indicative of TWiT’s true viewership/listenership than anything else. I’m subscribed to a handful of TWiT podcasts via iTunes. I haven’t downloaded or streamed an episode in at least 2 years.
When the cheating scandal with Lisa erupted Leo had to fly out to the East Coast where his daughter was attending college because she was essentially committed. More than anything that told me that the “my wife and I had been separated for some time” was total rubbish.

FMCP is, after watching in the past a number of programs of TWIT and bearing witness to his antics, is a dirtbag and a lowlife using the collar of the Catholic Church to get him where he currently is in life. Without that priest’s collar where would the piece of dirt work at? If the lowlife masquerading as a Catholic priest had any sense of decency he would give up the priest hood. FMCP offers nothing of value to the Church and if anything his continued presence only hurts it’s already troubled image even more. I’m surprised people on TWIT and it’s viewers can stomach the guy.
I can’t. One of a number of reasons why I don’t watch TWIT.
I cannot speak for the people who work this site but I am glad that they do and post the stories clearly showing THOSE people in TWIT are their own worst enemies.

I think that’s why I moved away from Twit. I had just started a family and Youtube videos being 5-20 minutes are perfect for me. I just don’t have time (like I use to back in 2008-9) to sit around for 2-3 hours listening to Leo talk about himself or something completely unrelated to the topics being discussed.
Having a look at some of the shows I use to watch. They all look so old and tired now. I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong and I should give Twit another chance. What are the best shows/hosts on Twit right now?

I’d be interested in hearing people’s stories on what did it for them.
I used to listen a lot due to a long commute. In the beginning, it was great. Then I noticed a gradual decline in quality. Then I started noticing how OFTEN Leo would completely cut his guests off mid thought. On occasion, I would shout STFU Leo! in my car. Then I figured out he felt the panel was there to support him, instead of the other way around which completely defeats the purpose of bringing “experts” in to talk.

Exactly. I’ve also seen where he agrees with a guest, but he will bring up opposing viewpoints (devil’s advocate) to make the interview well rounded.

After watching the video of Padre it seems the writing is on the wall – he wouldn’t be making content outside TWiT if he thought his future lay there, why waste the time and the energy?
Making numerous long time staff redundant, making content outside TWiT – looks like the business has run out of steam. Why not just pull in money from the radio show at the weekends and go into semi-retirement?

yeah, this week in google was the first show I bailed on last year when I started shedding twit shows from my weekly watching. Jeff Jarvis just turned every show into an extreme leftwing political orgy with leo right there egging him on with his own virtue signalling. It was quite sickening. And even if I tried to ignore the ever increasing politics, there was no real insight into google or tech anyway because Jarvis knows nothing about anything technical. Stacey is better than Gina “I’m a coder but never know any answers to programming questions when asked” Trapani ever was, but Stacey was all over the politics also. I hope TWIG is the first of their big shows to get cancelled.

If you’re obese, you’re addicted to food and are out of control (like your father), no difference between you and a drug addict. Therefore, if we give up and conform to make fat people happy, we are literally saying being an addict and out of control is fine.
For example, fat people have petitioned for a “large Disney Princess” to not shame fat people. Well then, it’s only fair we make a heroin addict Disney Princess, to not shame the large and growing number of opiate addicts. Sounds ridiculous when you realize how insane this has become. Let’s teach our kids to be okay with being addicted to food and being fat, even though heart issues are the #1 killer in the world in terms of illnesses. It will make the fat people feel better.

Is there any insight regarding Bryan Burnett being fired for having diabetes one?
When Leo was diagnosed with diabetes two it was mentioned on TWIT that Bryan had diabetes one.
I assume he (Bryan) would have been using his health insurance @ TWIT. With the financial troubles Leo and company seem to be having and from personal experience when money gets tight in a business the company then fires people who use the company insurance to save on costs. Of course the company would never openly admit to doing such a thing .
I can see Leo and his people resorting to such tactics considering the lowly state they’re in.
