Leo Laporte Says He Will Never Have an App and Wasted $85,000

What a douche.
Time capsule of the last time Leo learned something new about technology.

Leo Laporte measures things in tens of thousands of dollars. Some examples: $22,000 cruises. $350,000 website.

Previously, he claimed they had spent $60,000 on apps and had nothing to show for it.

Leo now claims they’re $15,000 or $25,000 — because who can be sure about a $10,000 price difference — further in the hole, still with nothing to show for it. The claimed total is now up to $85,000.

Perhaps CeHO Yoko just needs to allocate her time to it.

Why can third party developers make apps for free, but Leo Laporte and Lisa Laporte can’t even get a product they pay for? Are they that big of a joke and that big of a mark?

  1. The moron spends the same amount of time vetting companies and employees as he does preparing for his shows. Is anyone surprised? The same idiot who dropped out of Yale to pursue a radio job that doesn’t require any real world knowledge or skills. The same ignoramus that gave the keys to his company to a manfaced temptress. The same pervert who showed his dick on his fake network and says horrible shit to people and about people on a daily basis. No one with half a brain should be surprised he wasted 85k. Really? Maybe FauxJournalist needs to chime in here because you know he wants to give his opinion on this. How’s my post etiquette jackass?

I’m not defending him, but I think this one point above may seem idiotic now, but at the time he did this it made sense. Remember that that time period having a college degree was optional and you could make a nice living doing jobs that now people barely make minimum wage at.

By today’s standards it’s an idiotic move because you really can’t make a decent living without a degree now. If you had the personality and had the voice, you could be on the radio and obviously for him it served him really well all the way up to the point he switched over to the tech world.

Did he take the easy road by dropping out of Yale to pursue radio? Probably, and this is his quandary, because the times have changed even in the radio business since the last time he was truly part of it, so he can no longer fall back on what he did previously if this tech gig fails. He’s forced to muddle through the tech world because his bridges are burned, and the longer he muddles the more people see that he has no clue what he’s talking about.

So at that time he didn’t make a wrong call by quitting Yale, but today I think it’s finally bit him in the ass and he knows it.

    2. You babble a lot of nonsense TheTruth. I won’t bother addressing it.

Why doesn’t he have an app after spending 85k? No idea. Sounds like they got some alpha versions they didn’t like. And then got revised versions they didn’t like. Maybe they hired idiots. Maybe they’re asking for impossible things. Maybe they were cheap about who they chose, and got what they paid for.

This isn’t something I care about at all. But you wanted me t comment. So I commented. I hope this finally proves how much I love you.

  2. If I were Leo I’d spend the $85,000 on spa treatments for Lisa. Asscials, bleaches, laser hair removal. I want that body fine tuned like an F1 engine so that I can spend every minute that I’m not producing dog shit content at TWiT licking and sucking on it!

When you’re a multi millionaire, $85,000 is nothing.

  3. Telling everyone about your bad judgments, unfortunate wastes, large money losses, is the mark of defensive behavior. Paying a developer for a project without the bond guaranteeing completion is negligence in any company. Also, one must wander about why he won’t name this company. Was this a way of moving money from his corporation to a family member? (viz Donald Trump)

  4. Once again LL shows us all what a baller he is! Just casually throwing away $85g’s on an app for his network, and doesn’t have anything to show for such a waste of money, there you go twit faithful, your brick house donations at work lol. He slaps his tech challenged radio listening masses right in the face… Some people really struggle even to have a decent meal daily. And this blowhard just blurts out this BS, wow! What a fake two face, why didn’t he mention said companie’s name? Possibly preventing others from getting ripped off like he supposedly is? Simply… Because it’s not true, just my opinion. Feel free to chime in with your opinion.

  5. In my opinion that 85 k went into the vacation fund. Why is it other pod casters are able to have apps for half the cost? This reminds me of when they hired 4 kitchens to create their no web site. What did that cost? 300 k? This what happens when you marry your CEO.

  7. Amazing. Other small operations are able to get apps made. The numbers he’s throwing around are literally a man-year’s engineering salary. For that cash, they literally could have hired someone full time to do nothing but develop that app for an entire year.

You’d think this would be fairly trivial for “The Tech Guy” to execute on.

  8. The TWiT community already created apps for phone and tablets. He should of left it at that.

Although, when I was a regular viewer and the Xbox One came out, he wanted an app on the Xbox One Store. Back then [don’t know if this is still the case] to get an app on the Xbox/Windows Store costs a lot of money. I think they had a guy who works for Microsoft (forgot his name) helping them with the app for Xbox/Windows Store.

Next thing he’ll waste his money on – some VR thing, where you can watch TWiT in VR…

  9. Love it how Leo shits all over his fanboys who made plenty of TWiT apps for free… “I mean, we have fan-made apps, but we can’t be arsed picking the best one and funding development of that further to become the official app… no, let’s get our lighter out and burn some of that green paper clogging up our safe because that’s a fire hazard”.

To be fair, the TWiT app Shift Key Software has is fine you can even Airplay on it if you own an Apple TV. Craig even got an iPad out of the deal (2nd or 3rd gen I think). Then he started charging for the iPad version.

They want their own TWiT app to have control. I doubt Craig shares any of the data with TWiT – even though they call that app the official TWiT app endorsed by them. They probably want to shil their sponsors through their own app somehow as well.

  10. All the mis-spent dollars is the CoHoe’s responsibility. She has pulled the purse strings since she first bedded Leo back in ’08. Lisa has cost Leo millions, in divorce and business choices. But Leo is a happy camper not having to worry about the business end of his life.
