Leo Laporte Confirms Plans for TWiT Shed in 2016

Titan of Industry
Titans of Industry
Leo Laporte, the man you may remember actually liking way back in the Tech TV days, confirmed what we reported in October. In the video above, he details TWiT’s plan to move into a run-down office park far away from downtown Petaluma. The trick will be seamlessly moving without interrupting the ad conveyances known as TWiT shows.

He explains the plans — which would have actually cost money — to redesign the studio with Hollywood set designers have been scuttled entirely. They are just going to move all the existing, dated decor to the strip mall location.

Will this massive downgrade in status result in some humility from Leo or Lisa? Probably not, but it will provide some humor as the remaining staff have a huge downgrade in available space and have already been heard fighting over office space. FMCP and Bryan want to have an office and not be stuck in an uninhabitable space like their current “Know Hole” in the basement.

The new location is next door to The Hummus Guy — we are not making this up. Theeeeeeeeeeee Tech Guy will be next door to Theeeeeeeeee Hummus Guy in a strip mall. Additionally, they’re 6 minutes walking3 minutes on a Segway? — distance from a highly rated tug job joint, so you know the area is high class.

See our previous coverage with pictures and maps.

Could TWiT soon broadcast from a run-down abandoned church in the woods?
Could TWiT soon broadcast from a run-down abandoned church in the woods?
Master CEO Lisa Kentzell Laporte — who has honed her business skills non-stop after acquiring her University of Phoenix business degree — has been unable to close the deal since at least October.

TWiT still has no signed lease on the strip mall location and they will have to go month-to-month — at great expense, probably, and only if accepted by the landlord — on the Brickhouse until they are able to successfully complete the move.

With knowledge of Lisa’s business acumen and Leo’s laziness, the deal could easily fall apart completely before then. To borrow a phrase from FMCP: Stay tabbed!

Live from the TWiT beige metal building far, far away from beautiful downtown Petaluma, it’s The New Screen Savers!

  1. The wheels on the bus are falling off, falling off, falling off…

Congrats Lisa, you could’ve built something and flipped it a la Rev3. Now your best bet is the squeeze every last cent from the few dozen engaged audience members remaining before they smell the shit hitting one of FMCP’s drone blades and tune out.

  2. I like how he says that it isn’t worth buying property- it’s smarter to rent. Like his Tesla- smarter to lease.

    Who is his financial consultant?

In his case, both are CHEAPER maybe… and are ways to make him feel like he has more money than he does. I bet their budget is strained…

The funniest part of that clip is him talking about signing a 10-year lease. LMAO.

The part where he says the move is going to be hard on the employees says a lot… Employees read this as, most of you will be fired lol. I’ve noticed a big push encouraging the viewers/listeners to sign up for a newsletter that will tell them upcoming news about twit, question is, the $350k Drupal website was designed for all this type stuff, even including plugins or APIs for cell phone notification of all things twit. What happened? I’m almost willing to bet they won’t even move into the so called industrial location. I predict a big round table in LLs garage with a green screen and his 360 camera, and a fire sale of gear to fund the new car, Tesla or Ford anyone? Just one man’s opinion.

Well there’s no fans left. He mused a few weeks back that the one guy who stopped supporting a TWiT app he had made was a kook.

What boggles my mind is how Leo keeps spouting off about much he looooooooooves Squarespace and how you can create great websites that are so affordable and then he turns around and drops $300K+ for the TWiT redesign.

This is also a summary of my feelings. I’ve said before I think their true plan is to sink the ship before the move. I expect them to continue the network from home with only five shows: TWiG, SN, MBW, TTG, and TWiT. Seems like a LeHo and CeHo scam.

Your “firesale on equipment to fund new car” is an outstanding premise.

      Dynamite Mr. Pugner, DYN-O-MITE.

” Once you make your broken concrete pickup appointment, our junk disposal team will show up at your residential or business location right on time and load your broken up concrete driveway, patio, or BRICKHOUSE into our dump trailer and haul it away to the Petaluma Rock Quarry where it can be recycled.

It will cost more money to carefully dismantle each brick and bring it over. They are absolutely going to chuck them in the bin….but tell everyone they moved them over “behind camera” because that’s what they do.

        » Quote comment

      1. I’m going to assume dismantling brick walls are more trouble than it’s worth. Since there’s wording engraved on the facing sides the chances are it’ll just get covered by drywall or stucco. But whether those bricks are dismantled or they just get integrated into the building’s structure, to all those fan-boys who ‘bought’ one it’s definitely a typical TWIT statement about how Leo and Lisa view their loyal listeners.

        1. The picture on the TWiT wiki shows the wall under construction, the tiles are set in thinset, and then the joints were grouted. The entire wall will have to moved and still tiles would crack from stress’s encountered during a move. Leo will take pictures of the wall and sell the pictures to any of those idiots that bought a brick and want a momento of the shit house as it was.

      Trés nouvea riche, gauche Léo!

It’s becoming quite clear that Laporke intends to die with no assets, which is not a bad strategy if one is single with no children, but Laporke has crotch fruit and a stepson.

By hedonistically burning the bucks now, the kids will have absolutely no incentive to take care of the Soup Slurper in the unlikely event he lives past 63.

Leo’s ex-wife Jennifer made sure that scenario wouldn’t happen. She is a great woman. She was respectful to Lisa but had her children’s interest represented when they drew up the prenuptial and she set up trusts.

It is my opinion that one of the reasons Leo is, in actuality, getting along well with Jennifer is he appreciates what she did for his children. Jennifer’s kids still do better financially if there is a divorce. Twit folding prior to the divorce will also abort Lisa’s wrongful termination lawsuit before it starts.

Had TWiT been successful and then he divorced Lisa, she would take credit for some of the success. However If TWiT is the exact same 4 or 5 shows as it was when he started TWiT (preLisa) and the same podtrac business model, it will be self-evident she didn’t do didley as CEO.

His comment that he is 59 and should not be buying real estate can only mean one of two things. One, he’s dying. Or, two, he plans to do this for a few more years then leave California. Even so it would be wise to buy his own buildings.

And what’s with buying ANOTHER car after the Audi A8?? I get the sense that he is not paying his taxes. What a loony tunes.

the audi lease was probably $800 a month or so, and the tesla will be a bit more or similar. They lease it under the business, and then think they are being business savvy by being able to deduct the lease payment and taxes instead of depreciating the purchase out over 4 or 5 years. Theres nothing wrong with it per se but when leo talks about it and how he misuses the word “buy” it just makes it douchey. its also another classic way of keeping an asset off the books, in the case of a divorce or something. instead of an asset, you have a cost of doing business liability.

About the only value the wiki has now are all the TWiT shows that have failed or were forced off of TWiT’s network or sent onto hiatus . When Lisa discovered she could sell ads on shit TWiT shows, she started a systematic cleaning of in house hosts that required full time pay and the part time off site hosts that received any sort of substantial stipend. Only a few stipend hosts remain.

You as Managment have done nothing but get rid of anyone we as viewers watched. Your podcast dl’s dont mean shit,
everyone knows Corolla fudges his numbers, so dont fuckin lie about yours!
    We watch LIVE!
Open up TWIT to other streamers!
JTV had the internets BALLS! & Game ON could have been TWITCH. Oh can I remind the fucking Managment at TWIT , $1 Billion for TWITCH!
Thats a giant fucking B for Billion!
The only way to save face and really grow at this point I can see is to FIRE the managment and get someone who knows what people watch in Tech and internet TV. Open up channels to streamers. Offer online 24/7 content from you and others. Then you can have those shitty advertz with 100 streaming live channels and 10,000+ viewers at any given time.
Did I give away the Boat here?
ATTN: Managment feel free to contact me at anytime.
My resume sells its self. As does my personality and charm.
TY and Yippie Kay Yay! (U finish da rest!)

  20. Can we please stop picking on the University of Phoenix for god’s sake?!

Switch to Devry for awhile. They’re under federal investigation, UOP is just up for sale.

Besides, I didn’t see any degrees from there on her resume so stop stinkin up the place by connecting her to it.

    1. Ok, I stand corrected, I checked her LinkedIn profile. She did go there but for god’s sake 7 YEARS to get a BS degree?

That’s not UOP’s fault, that’s just stupidity in action.

Most people get their degrees from there in 3 years tops, some half of that.
