Megan Morrone is stiff and unnatural on debut TN2

Megan Morrone on her debut during TN2.
Megan Morrone on her debut during TN2.

Megan Morrone, a terrible replacement for the departing lovely and talented Sarah Lane on TWiT’s evening newscast, TN2, was stiff and unnatural on her debut performance.

After multiple rehearsals, Morrone was still unable to read the TelePrompTer with any amount of ease and appeared terribly uncomfortable and wooden—all negative traits that she must have picked up from her untalented mentor Mike Elgan.

There remains a sliver of hope that she could break out of her straitjacket and attain a tiny personality. But we’re not too hopeful.

  1. I was watching and didn’t think she was at all a good replacement. Her face was looking down and her eyes were looking at the camera… she’s just off on the wrong foot… hopefully.

    1. Hey, Magan was great. Seems much more real, personable, and believable.

Tonya is the one to complaining about. Has anyone taken time to count her UHM’s and UH’s. Probably 2 a minute when she’s talking. And the way she flirts with the guests and even Anthony.

  2. So in Leo’s opinion: “She hit it out of the park!”

    #twitlive: “best TN2 ever”

    needles: “A star is born!!!”

    scooterzX: “uh, read inside.twit.tv/666666”

    1. Did needles really say that?
She will get better, she has a brain so she will improve but will never be Sarah. Leo is finally going to learn what talent is and why it costs money. She is better than Gum though.

      1. Come on guys, this is day one for someone who did TV years ago. She genuinely was good, flubbed a few words, but day one is day one, especially for someone thrust into this position rapidly.

Give her a few weeks to fine tune herself, get comfortable, we all need a little leeway – and we should all remember how rough Elgan was on day 0. She’s much better than that.

    1. TN2 was basically Sarahs show, so the numbers are sure to drop. In order to survive, Megan will have to find an audience. I haven’t seen the first show and my comment has nothing to do with Megans skill, Im sure shes a capable woman but she sitting in Sarahs chair. The only reason TNT survived, is because of its (live) time slot imo. Hi Leo its me!! (waving)

    2. That would then be the end of one of Gumbo’s key ideas. I was surprised when Gumbo took pictures of those poor lobsters that Leo ordered on air to feed to Gumbo and Wife begging him to remain in Petaluma. I bet Gumbo’s Sack was emptied that evening.

  3. Aside from El Gummo who’s just a bizarre-50s-dad-weird-robot-humanoid and the weird priest-turned-pundit, I don’t think we should be too hard on other low-level staffers.

This isn’t the greatest economy, and people just take jobs when they are offered because they need a job, not because they necessarily love it or think they’ll be amazing.

Obviously Leo and Lisa are held to a higher standard, because they get to call the shots and have access to the bank accounts.

To be brutally honest, Sarah Lane wasn’t always a cherry/likable/wonderful/vibrant host either. I saw her many times when she clearly phoned it in. And that’s okay.

    Why?

Because she – like most everyone around her – was just a worker bee, there for a paycheck.

  5. Megan IS a qualified, skilled, professional. She is clearly being affected by something at TWiT itself. She was natural, skilled and personable at TechTV, so what changed?

  6. You can literally see her eyes going side to side as she reads off the teleprompter. She even seems to be reading off the teleprompter when she asks Elise how she’s doing. Do you really need a teleprompter to tell you how to have a conversation??? Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse at TWiT……

Leo has really screwed things up there. It seems he’s deliberately trying to mess up every other show that he doesn’t host. Perhaps his plan IS to shut down the Brickhouse when the lease expires and run things from a home studio so he can keep all commercial revenue and have minimum expenses.

    1. The prompter is a Sarah thing, she begged to do a prompter show for years, then got i5, and later brought the method to TN2.

It’s her thing, she apparently feels more comfortable using it.

As for Megan, she’s plenty of experience, I’m sure she’ll fall back into the grove eventually.

  7. Give Megan some time… she’s been off camera for 12 years or so, around there. She’s a class act and hopefully Twit realizes that and will class up a little bit with her there.

  8. What happened to her? Did Leo keep her in his cellar for 20 years? Pulling out old “Friends” when everybody else leaves him? She looks like she was barely fed and allowed upstairs for a couple minutes a day. Somebody rescue that poor girl!

  9. @LLS R.I.P.

    #damnYouCeho

    #hateWatch2015

    Was Megan Morrone “BasementDweller” ?

Good to see she finally got a job. So maybe she will leave us alone now.

Now if only some one could find #CEO a real job maybe she will leave the twitter parades accounts alone and stop TROLLING #drama.

  10. How pathetic that a guy who promotes a “free and open Internet” is most likely the person who was behind getting the LLS Twitter account suspended.

    1. You must have some distorted fundamental interpretation of free and open.

Clearly, they only apply to those deemed worthy by whoever is pontificating on the subject!

  11. Tech TV put a lot of people on air that had never been on air before. Some were naturals. Look at Erica Hill. Megan? Did she do on camera work before TTV? What has she done since?

  12. Megan will do great. She’s intelligent and enjoys the subject matter. She will loosen up over time and make it her own, I have no doubt. I’m very glad to see her back in it.

    1. John, no. That was just Leo not respecting anybody’s time or schedule. The 4 o’clock show started about 4:40. It is ridulous they don’t even TRY to hit the time for the daily news shows.

  13. Give Megan a chance. Sarah is not coming back. Megan is just trying to fit into a hostile enviroment. Shes been dropped in a shit blender. Shes a mom who needs a job. I for one am going to give her a couple weeks.

  14. You realize, don’t you, that doing a show like this is 1,000 times harder than it looks?

Were all of you amazing people incredibly good at doing hard things the first time ever?

There’s not a single person in this chat room that could have done anywhere near as good a job as Megan did.
