TWiT to Fire Shannon Morse During Her Honeymoon

The full scale purge at the TWiT seems to be continuing. During the live stream of Leo Laporte’s The Tech Guy show, less than an hour ago, he showed his Gmail inbox. It shows an email conversation with subject “Re: Shannon” where TWiT CEO Lisa Kentzell seems to be discussing a new co-host for “Coding 101” programme with Robert Ballecer, show’s other co-host.

As it was the case with Amber Macarthur’s show cancellation, Ms Morse is probably going to be the last person to know. Kentzell is most likely waiting for an opportune moment when Shannon is not around to drop the news.

Our best wishes to @snubs in this difficult time.

Update 1:

Unsurprisingly, Shannon Morse is not privy to the conversation about her:

Update 2:

I might be difficult to see from that video, but our forensics team has been able to decode the part of conversation visible on screen:

Oct 10 Robert Ballecer, SJ
RE: Shannon
We've got some runway because I had already altered the schedule to account for Shannon's (honeymoon)

Oct 10 Lisa Kentzell
RE: Shannon
I don't want to lose the audience we have but I think the content needs to be relevant to grow

Oct 10 Robert Ballecer, SJ
RE: Shannon
Lisa & Leo, Understood on all points. 1. Will ask Lou to co-host 2. Will work over the weekend to

  1. My guess is Leo and Lisa heard the new Microsoft’s CEO compensation plan for women and got super excited……”Instead of paying female hosts real money….we’ll pay them with KARMA! And if they don’t like that, fuck ’em.”

    1. Dont you think LK will craft some cliched ingenuous rationale to eliminate you – doesn’t she believe (in her misguided head) that you have taken the side of the evil troll ‘whatevers’ and need to disappear? Anyway talent will always prevail over shortsighted bean-counting

    2. My dear Shannon, you take the silence from Friar Ballsucker as being confirmation.

Something I was taught very early on was that sometimes it is not what someone says but what they don’t say and sometimes not answering a question is more of an admission of guilt or accuracy of the source information in the first place.

How this has rolled out is actually part of the Leo and Lisa (from here on in #Soup and #Slop) Playbook. They do things with timing that they feel will allow the dust to settle. For example the cancellations of shows just before they left for their Vacat..er Business Trip to the UK and in your case while you are away on your Honeymoon. They obviously hoped that a temporary co-host would magically become a full time co-host and nobody would notice and when they were asked on another scripted “inside Twat” with call in’s about your vanishing they would say that you chose to leave due to ‘other obligations’ and that you were ‘not a good fit’ for the show.

Not to worry my dear lady, we just let us know which shows you are currently doing or plan to do and I am sure that we will all view and support it thoroughly to compensate for this slight made against you.

  2. Snubs while in Chicago may have tweeted to LisaCuntsell and probably sealed her fate, also she’s a talent as is sarahlanerocks and ambermac- all will be eliminated /Botox CEO does not want younger, talented attractive women in tbe organisation. Ambermac will be blogging about the TSH and TWIT quite soon, so stay tuned (actually you should delete ur feeds)!

      1. I had all the TWIT feeds on my podcast apps (4 devices) 2 phones & 2tablets / thats a lot of downloads – I dont want these to enhance TWITs ratings – possible metric for advertising $$$

        1. Aah, but then of course, on the other hand you could have those devices streaming 24/7 on Flosoft.biz and push up the usage on that feed which #Soup and #Slop have to pay for.

  3. I’d like to say that I didn’t expect this. I actually thought that Coding 101 would be dropped to get rid of Shannon Morse. I believe I said it in a comment when it was highlighted that Father Ballsucker had alluded to one of the shows being cancelled. It was all in the stars that #Soup & #Slop would want to eradicate her from the network.

Meanwhile I look forward to a “Wine” Show with advertising and wines being supplied by Club W.

  4. After everything that has transpired recently, Shannon is better off without them. They are losing all of their talent it seems like. It has become “wheel of hosts” lately. You never know who is going to be replaced or “fired” next. I thought they should have had Shannon Morse host Tech News Today instead of Elgum. Morse seems much more knowledgeable, coherent, in-touch, and actually has personality. Elgum makes the show so uncomfortable with his bizarreness. Someone needs to make an Elgum drinking game (e.g. strange joke, awkward pause, run-on statement, remark that is way out there, etc.).

On an unrelated note, hearing Leo discuss his sexual harassment of Kate Botello back in the day and also witnessing explicit poor treatment of Sarah Lane has really stunned me. I certainly do not think of Leo Laporte as a person of trustworthiness or integrity as I once did. I do not believe it is repairable. I am surprised Sarah Lane puts up with it quite frankly. She deserves so so so much better. Honestly, she should press charges against Leo for sexual harassment.

Why is it that hosts that are well-respected in the industry and have real talent (e.g. Tom Merritt, Brian Brushwood, Sarah Lane, Shannon Morse, etc., etc.) seem to be under fire constantly? And why do river men hosts such as “father” Robert Ballecer seem to get all the “glory” at TWiT? He has no credibility in the industry! If I have to see him host another show, I am going to shoot myself! To me it just feels like there are some true ego problems at the top or something. My God. Talk about burning bridges Leo…

    1. Best description of #GUM and how he acts on screen. You are so right he is totally bizarre and that serial killer grin is just so uncomfortable to be confronted after he asks a question especially where he expects a certain answer but far more satisfying when the answer is totally the opposite and screws up his autoqueued reply and he is so flustered and goes ahead and reads out the now wrong thing and pretend the boat said what he wanted to be said.

    2. Father Robert is just about bearable as a host, but it seems he has the underlying personality of a really irritating 13 year old – and about as much spiritual wisdom as a drunken frat boy.

Even if it’s all an act he should remember the most evil sentence in any language is – “I was just following orders…”.

    1. My goodness, bad stuff happened behind the scenes with that, too? I just assumed that the show didn’t happen because of Leo’s disdain for Windows 8/Windows Phone 8, but I guess it’s not so simple, eh?

I’ll send you a dollar if you put my name on a post-it note and then tell the story. 😉 (seriously sucks that you got in trouble for that)

        » Quote comment

      1. Yeah. The post-it note thing. Lisa also had me lay across her lap and spanked me. Liz was TD’ing and was thoughtful enough to cut away. I probably have a case for sexual harassment too. 🙂

  5. I see they are ‘hot’ on Club W, which I can only conclude has not been informed of #totaldrama or the captain… twitter handle “clubw” should help this process along before the yule tide season advances.

    1. Well, kinda. They didn’t “fire” her. Though I wonder if the BeforeYouBuy thing was a bit of ass-covering in response to the leak. Changing focus on a show and shifting people around is a far more benign change than firing, and something that most organizations would have told ALL PARTIES about much sooner, but Snubs seemed quite out of the loop.

      1. There’s so many cool things you can do with a coding show. This description is NOT it, it sounds like triangulation for comp sci people.

However, when snubs appeared recently I don’t recall where and she mentioned all the languages being learned, that also scared me…coding show should be more philosophy and the science of it, maybe some offshoots that is like hey, let’s learn some Python, or C or Java, but not the core show where you’d cover maybe a couple languages to show some of these things in use.
