Leo Laporte Admits He Rode John C. Dvorak’s Coattails

This will be my final article and video. Others do still have access to post, even though they haven’t been, so I can’t say this is the site’s last post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Time capsule of the last time Leo learned something new about technology.
Time capsule of the last time Leo learned something new about technology.

Thanks to a reader tip, we have the footage above from 2001.

Leo Laporte admitted then what we all still see is true today.

He is a washed-up DJ masquerading as a tech expert.

Additionally, he rode John C. Dvorak’s coattails into the position he finds himself in today, subsequently tossing John under the bus.

      1. Right, much bigger issues to blog about. Like the white supremacy that got Trump elected, or the misogyny and sexism that kept wonderful Mrs. Clinton from winning.

Let me guess, you’re upset at the elections in America. It’s disgusting that the far left is so hateful and yet lack any sort of open mind to see they are far worse than those they oppose. Even Trump never wished anyone would hang themselves… he made fun of a the way a disabled person talked, but he never said to someone’s face they should go hang themselves.

You can shove those quotation marks up your ass too. Mocking people’s names is an MO of the liberal nuts too, e.g. the Drumpf meme. I’ve only ever had one handle on here and it’s this one. If you think I’m someone else as well you’re deluded and making shit up so you can satisfy your pathetic misconceptions about people.

Don’t act like this isn’t related. Your penultimate, now deleted email, was telling everyone to go vote with a big picture of Clinton at the end.

They’ve been piling on Jill Stein today, as if she owes them anything. One tweet complained Stein had “taken votes” from Clinton – it’s completely lost on them that votes aren’t “taken” in a democracy, they are *given*. Clinton wasn’t given votes because she was diabolically unlikeable – here is a real tweet from her own account, what her own team thought of her –

    3. Jimmy, you are one stupid fuck. Did we overthrow the government when Gore won the popular vote in 2000? No, and nobody is talking about doing that now that Hillary won the popular vote.

Let me enlighten you: it wasn’t always this way. For decades, votes in the Electoral College were awarded proportionally, such that winning the popular vote meant you would win the Electoral College, and thus the presidency. That really started to change with the election of John Quincy Adams. Many states began adopting a winner-take-all approach when awarding their electoral votes.

This was not a fair and open election, because the Supreme Court (headed by super racist douchebag John Roberts…you’d like him) struck down section five of the Voting Rights Act, which allowed the secesh scum states to close polling places in non-white districts, thus disenfranchising those voters.

Presto, Republicans win again. And why shouldn’t they? They are much better at cheating than the Democrats.

The Supreme Court has ruled that becoming president of the United States does not shield an individual from private litigation concerning matters that took place before he or she takes the oath of office — as then-President Bill Clinton discovered in 1997 in a case from former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones concerning allegations of sexual advances.

In that case, the nation’s highest court said that any protections extended to the president in civil litigation are designed to safeguard official acts, not unofficial ones.

“It must follow that the federal courts have power to determine the legality of the president’s unofficial conduct,” the 1997 ruling said.

Honesty who the fuck cares. In 30 plus years of business a few lawsuits, a few stupid cunts being cunty, some bad business decisions and a few screw ups?…Really? That’s living man. Life is messy and the more risks you take the more potential for problems. He is human, and as susceptible to human flaws as everyone else is. Einstein used to reveal himself “accidentally” to woman and gauge their response. It was how they reacted when the “accident happened” that he would make his next move. This is documented by several historians. Clinton is a crook plain and simple. A few days ago, the press reported that the Clintons had transferred the value of the Clinton Foundation’s $1.8 Billion Dollars, to Qatar, one of the two main countries funding ISIS/ISIL, the other being Saudi Arabia.

I want to make one thing VERY clear. TRUMP WON THE POPULAR VOTE TOO unlike what being “reported”. The cheating and theft and corruption of our voting system was completely rigged for Hillary to be the winner. That is why so many were  so sure of it. They had it all rigged and KNEW it. In fact its now becoming apparent most insiders knew things were looking very bad two weeks before the election. They even cancelled the fireworks show 2 days before the election. The pollsters and the lamestream media worked hand in hand on this election to ensure a Clinton victory. It didn’t work. Too many people are on to these sobs. Trump would have won in a huge landslide if not for all the democrat fraud. As it stands they are trying not to give him a huge
electoral landslide by not announcing the states not counted yet.

We don’t let the fraudster off just because the victims are stupid. And nobody brings a RICO case of this magnitude without substantial evidence. Trump has tried to have it dismissed, but failed. Now we all get to find out just how poor he is.

Actually we do put a a reasonable man burden on the buyer. Everyone likes the Latin phrase Caveat Emptor, let the buyer be ware. I honestly don’t know what the fraud is, and neither do the people calling him a fraudster. I’m not reading the complaint, I don’t care that much. My point is people shouldn’t call him a fraudster if they don’t know why. I can call Hillary a criminal but its meaningless without facts.

To repeat, take my course you’ll make money and then someone doesn’t make money is not fraud. My super glue doesn’t always work, I just saw a movie that sucked despite the awesome trailer and we all know about everything Leo hocks.

Lastly bringing a case hardly makes the case that the case is valid. Trump sues everyone too.

Just as it’s equally dangerous to suggest a Trump supporter condones gross generalizations about foreigners and women. These two candidates were the choices we gave ourselves, and each came with a heaping helping of vulgarity and impropriety. Yeah, it was dirty job for sure, but the winner was NOT decided by a racist and craven nation – it was decided by millions of disgusted Americans desperate for real change. The people did not want a politician. The people wanted to be seen. Donald Trump convinced those people that he could see them. Hillary Clinton did not. But Lecia was always stupid that way… if Leo said he looked fat then Lecia would put it up on the site and essentially parrot Leo’s own joke.

    1. I took a look and you seem to be writing a lot more about irrelevant politics than the slimy deceitful blob running TWIT.
Not my cup of tea sir, but nice try farming new clicks.

Yeah cuz Leo’s gonna have the nuclear codes…. Chronicling the piss-ant that is the current TWIT is SO much more important… : /

It’s over and if this site can claim any victory it’s that TWIT has lost a lot of ground because it was here when Leo was at his worst.

Now he keeps his head down and covers his ass for the most part. The ego balloon was popped and there’s really not much more to report aside from when TWIT finally dies which it will. The move to the “Strip Mall Studios” is the best evidence of that.

No use documenting every drop of blood on the way. That’s why a lot of content here flew into weird unrelated directions. There just wasn’t enough goings on to expose anymore.

  10. The TWiT Network isn’t relevant anymore. Why should anyone bother providing deconstruction of their coverage of anything. I’ll cherish the first few 100’s of episodes of This Week in Tech. But it’s been Years since someone has had a profound outlook on tech or media in general on the network. It’s as though the world of tech died but Leo paid people to cover the vast-space of Nothing. Bye, TWiT. You are so far from relevant; you are a punchline.

  11. I agree that Leica/JeffJarvis never got it. He is a Hillary supporter after all and probably anti-brexit and someone who has a lot in common with Leo. Not a free thinker. This site was about breaking down the misconceptions we fell for (as kids) watching tech tv and TWiT.

He never did any pieces on what was wrong with Leo and TWiT. He just posted videos (some good, some stupid (like this one)) and tried to embarrass everyone at TWiT if someone googled them. His true ambitions were nefarious. Ironically he did the least damage except for the Dick pic which (I think) was him.

The old adage “jumping the shark” comes to my mind.

Thanks for trying and keeping the lights on although it’s now time to shut them off for good.

  12. There are people who think Leica will stay away?

He will be back as The Jeff Jarvis, Guest Submissiom or maybe a new name, all we know that is certain is he will return. We will have our articles that are short on humor and long on hyperlinks soon enough. The hero of the stupid who can’t offer interesting opinion but can call people fat, will be back. An infatuation like his is hard to kill.

  13. More bum steerage with Leo & Steve sending us off to Humble Bundle for free Linux books that don’t appear. Probably a tip from last year as Q&A is put off again for CC hacks we can do nothing about and a lot of talk about not giving spoilers. ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS ALREADY.
At least Mr Buzz Machine aka the Verizon Vilifier aka King of CUNY aka He-who-has-read-Habermas aka the Foremost Public Intellectual of the Trump Era doesn’t waste the time of his gormless yet well meaning listeners by sending them off on a wild goose chase.

I notice that a new lady Stacey has been tossed into the TWIG mix. One shudders to think what hideous crime she committed in a previous life to end up like this. Or maybe she is a junkie for the endless discussion of German censorship & legal minutia.

  14. I haven’t checked in in a while, but I just noticed that TWIT is pushing to sell some t-shirts on twitter again.
For fun, I clicked the link – they only have 50 shirts sold. HAHAHAHA
